The 'ayes' have it! on 22:19 - Sep 3 with 2524 views | ActionMan | It's all fun and games until the Tories win 5 more years on power off the back of their own incompetence over Brexit. I think Remain has walked into a trap on this one, it's perfect for him to avoid losing votes to the Brexit mob now he can paint Lib-Lab as the Remain group and he as the saviour fighting to do the people's will. He's been smarter than they are as he will win the General Election now.

Not until something has been agreed on Brexit. BoJo has lost control and it is going to be interesting what does happen.

A bit like threads on here, GEs don't always go the way the instigator of them thinks they will! ;)

Indeed, BoJo can't carry out his threat against all them without destroying his party.

I don't know about that. Lots of usual tory voters won't be keen to vote on a party increasing lining up with the Brexit party and all that that brings.

Overt blackmail's probably left a sour taste in the mouths of many too, both inside Westminster and across the UK. [Post edited 3 Sep 2019 22:28]

And those that do will probably vote Farage instead. BoJo has manoeuvred them into a fight for the right-wing vote. OK, the usual line of you don't want to let in a Lib-Lab pact may well get him some more moderate votes. Likely result would be a hung parliament with no coalition possible. Maybe a minority government?

Quite. He's completely screwed if he carries out his threat. In the short term his majority would be minus 22 and if he calls an election then the rebel Tories will stand as independents and split the vote costing him any chance of winning. He's being squeezed out early doors before he can cause further damage to the party or the country. [Post edited 3 Sep 2019 22:33]

Leadsome has just said they won't lose the whip yet, getting a second chance, but declares they will if they vote for the bill tomorrow. Has just reduced the validity of the threat considerably.
