I suspect Prime Ministerial history is going to record Boris Johnson in the same way as Ipswich Town history has recorded Paul Hurst.

Deputy PM...could well be.

I never considered that things could get worse...

He'd have to win a seat first.

Technically, he could be Deputy PM outside the Commons or Lords, but it would be nonsensical and pointless.

Where am I defending Boris Johnson? I’m saying well done to the 21 rebels who have had the backbone to risk their parliamentary careers to deal him what could be a fatal blow tonight.

It's all fun and games until the Tories win 5 more years on power off the back of their own incompetence over Brexit. I think Remain has walked into a trap on this one, it's perfect for him to avoid losing votes to the Brexit mob now he can paint Lib-Lab as the Remain group and he as the saviour fighting to do the people's will. He's been smarter than they are as he will win the General Election now.

It's not really Lib-Lab

More like Lab-SNP-and-all-other-minority parties

I wonder if the Remain/Leave parties will step aside to aide the more favourable outcomes?

Brexit party will certainly split Tory votes, perhaps more so than the Lib Dems for Labour etc but multiple remain parties on the bill will hit Labour harder

Labour's biggest problem is Scotland, they don't want to undermine their own party in Scotland even though a Coalition with the SNP would suit them for the timebeing

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I think Boris has seriously misjudged this gambling on Corbyn wanting an election too. Politically Corbyn could gain some traction. Boris was dire in parliament and demonstrates he isn't competent or able to do his job. He is grasping now for a solution he doesn't have to a situation he can't control.

The most likely election result is probably a hung parliament anyway.

Great comment from Ken Clarke who has represented the Tories for 49 years in the HOC:"Anyone who says I'm not a Conservative is taking an odd political view. It's the Brexit Party rebadged”

A sad day if someone so influential and dedicated as Ken Clarke can't vote without having the whip withdrawn.

People will look back and hang their heads in shame.
