That Tim Horton's isn't all that
at 17:46 8 Feb 2022

Canadian resident here: TH is still quite popular because it is cheap, not because it is good. Quality has been declining for years, but the catalyst was the chain being sold to a group of companies that includes Burger King. Franchise saturation didn't help either; there was something like 1 chain for every 9000 people in parts of Canada at one point.

The only decent options on the menu is actually the boxes of timbits. Local bakeries are far superior especially in Toronto.

Chambers
at 15:45 15 Aug 2018

Chambers doesn't struggle with the physicality often although he's no Berra and he isn't small either (Micheal Morrison is the same height as Chambers.) He is also relatively mobile for a CB even at 32. Saying that we do miss someone a bit more uncompromising at the back, someone like Shaun Hutchinson from Millwall. Tilt looks as though he could also be the answer, especially considering he is left-footed.

I would say he isn't being helped by a lack of confidence around him. At Rotherham he was solid for 80% of the game, the 2 occasions he looked shaky in my memory was when either Jonas or Toto contributed to dropping him in it.

The short memories on here considering Chambers was one of our better players last season, and we looked shaky after he got injured at Brentford.

Bart and new contract
at 11:46 15 Jul 2018

The rest of the squad have voted him the best player the last 3 years...they can hardly moan at him being on the highest wages.

Aside from maybe Waghorn nobody in the current team could make a case to be on similar wages to Bart

Were bomber command war criminals
at 14:52 26 Jun 2018

The issue with Dresden at the time, was the city was filled with a large concentration of refugees fleeing from the advancing Soviets to the east, so the exact numbers of dead will never be known.

The bombing was worsened by the fact the Americans bombed during the day, and Bomber Command at night-often the 2 Allies worked interdependently from each other, whereas in this case there was no respite for those below.

Not at all they were seen as justice for the Blitz.

For those interested, I did my Dissertation for my Masters on the American perspective of Strategic Bombing Campaign against Germany. If anyone would like a read through, let me know.

Exactly the sort of player PH goes for, and left-footed which aside from Knudsen filling in we don't have at CB.

Either spot on or lazy tabloid writing.

I'm not so sure Hurst will be looking to get rid of our Captain given the already young squad we have, and the fact Chambo was our most consistent defender last season by quite a margin, at least till CCV arrived.

PH also played Matt Sadler as the veteran CB with instructions to put the ball in row Z last season, and had his current assistant at the back for Grimsby.

Mick could well get the Sunderland job ...

TBF would be a great fit for both parties. Get the behind-the scenes mayhem under control and the players in order (as MM would) and the club could walk that league.

Is Waghorn
at 13:28 30 Apr 2018

100% was my POTS. Adds that quality link-up play with some genuinely excellent finishing and set-pieces. Also a real unit and puts a shift in, can cause a variety of different problems for defenders which must make him a pain to play against.

He seems to be a real positive character in the dressing room as seen by his celebrations and comical Instagram posts that usually involve him mocking Connolly.

250K or whatever, no wonder Rangers don't have any money again.

He was completely stop on. Mick has been a victim of his own success and bore the brunt of 15 years of frustrations. I wish him the best.

Totally agreed. Don't understand what the objective was. And now 2 groups of teenaged 'massives' have started throwing hands on the train. Disgraceful

Waghorn captain
at 14:39 5 Apr 2018

I agree Waghorn does seem to have some potential to captain the side. However Chambers must remain skipper as long is he is here imo, and incidentally i think he's had a decent season given he has had an erratic Webster and/or 2 average RB's either side of him.

May be a good shout.

Personally if you are looking for a good CB that won't cost loads, Shaun Hutchinson of Millwall would be my choice. A tank at the back for them when i've seen him play this season, and he was the better of their defenders on Monday as well. 27, quite quick for a CB, and aggressive. Reminds me of Berra in some ways.

That poor 78 yr old pensioner

The TM case was at least on the face of it far cloudier than this one@:

1) TM possessed a firearm he had no licence for. He past meant he would have been unlikely to have been granted one.
2) He shot at the guys as they were fleeing from him if i remember correctly
3) He had been burgled a few times before by members of the same Irish traveler community. This was used both in his defence and against him, on the one hand the Police hadn't done much to help but on the other the implication was TM had armed himself with the intention of getting retribution.

In this case i would be shocked if it goes as far as a trial. Say what you like about the US, but their self-defence laws do have some common sense applied to them.

Edit: didn't notice the link-my apologies for saying much of what wiki says.

Millwall fans today

Living near the Den, I've been to a few games and always found them likeable, with a gallows humour towards their reputation. Quite a likeable club and it would be good to see them inj CT some soul back into the Premium.

Interesting I also lived in Leeds for a year and didn't exactly develop a liking of Leeds United.

He's still my #1 choice. Something different, promotes youth and doesn't suffer fools by all accounts.

Basically they have started to win away, as their home form has always been good. They managed to bring in a couple of additions to improve them in January, and they have played teams at the bottom of the table recently. They have quite a tough run-in.

This.

If you ask me I'm still concerned they used medication on her to put her to sleep and then accidentally OD'd her.

The Evans Years - Things that were so tragic they were almost funny
at 13:13 13 Mar 2018

-Ívar Ingimarsson

-Playing ALB over Marton Fulop in an East Anglian Derby.

-Our Injuries over the past couple of seasons.

-Giving Keane and Jewell millions to waste on fees and wages, before giving MM almost nothing.

-Signing Paul Taylor for 2 Million whilst passing on George Boyd who was basically being offered BOGOF because he wouldn't sign a new deal.

-Signing Chopra but not signing Billy Sharp.

-The farce January of 2012 window, not being able to sign any of 3 players we wanted from bankrupt Pompey, having Charlie Austin sat in the office and still not getting him. Then signing a Ryan Stevenson for 50k when midfield was the area least needing strengthening.

-Not having a proper RB in the squad for 3 seasons.
