How have they managed to go on this fantastic run?

Back in November they sat in 19th place, today they sit in 8th just 2 points off 6th.

I would love them to make the playoffs and win!

As amusing as it would be to see them in the premier league and p1ssing all over the corporate chiefs, as soon as they have to play Fulham or Villa over two kegs, they’ll just find themselves beaten by a classier team.

It’s one thing bullying teams like Reading/Forest/QPR/etc but the real classy teams will just prove that little bit too good for them over 180 minutes of football in my opinion.

It would be funny seeing the Met trying to work out how to deal with 6000 Millwall fans at Fulham on a Friday night for the playoffs that’s for sure.

I genuinely ain’t bothered about the game today. Obviously I’d prefer if we won but I’m not fussed. That combined with the bus replacements and that I’d be sober (unlike at Brum and at Brentford Saturday), I’m swerving it. I could go, but what’s the point really?

I’ve done 2-0 Town in the predictor but my head says 1-2. It’s incredible how many times a club record gets equalled but then in the match to beat the record, the team feck it up. So I really wouldn’t be surprised if Millwall had an absolute shocker.

"How have they managed to go on this fantastic run?"

Some teams thrive from November on wards because there's something about the heavier pitches that suits their style of play.

Such a team could be Millwall, it has been some turnaround. The fact that we were better at the beginning of the season playing on flatter Summer pitches and have declined of late doesn't quite fit in with our perceived hoof-ball though, or may be someone can explain.

Today might not be an exception from what I have read about the state of our pitch and the heavy rain.

I’m not sure where specifically they are running from and to today but I know it’s the last day today (until next season I expect) and it was adding an hour and a half to mine.

The one game they've not won recently was against Sunderland which I went to and they spent the first half of that match pointlessly lumping the ball to Sunderland's back three. If people think we persevere with something clearly not working....

They were better after the break but didn't show in that match enough to look like a play-off contender so thy must have been better consistently. They have a basic approach that they are comfortable with and a lot of confidence at the moment, notable they're starting matches quickly.

I watched Millwall versus Sunderland on Saturday by Steve_M 5 Mar 2018 9:22
Was a pretty decent match, entertaining in parts with sporadic moments of quality but plenty of dross. A typical Championship match really. Given that the two times I had seen one of these two live this season there had been seven goals in the game I was hoping for a few.

Millwall played a rigid 4-4-2 in the first half whereas Sunderland were 3-4-3. Neither side looked particularly competent at the back with the best bits of play coming from forward players. It was a very rigid 4-4-2 so much so that Millwall spent the entire first half knocking long diagonal balls towards the right wing, all of which were easily dealt with by Sunderland's back three.

Sunderland had Ashley Fletcher on this own forward, supported by McManaman and McGeady. Fletcher looked good on the ball but a bit lightweight and drifted out of the game at times. McGeady impressed, ad did McManaman at times but there was little support with Lee Catermole even slower than he used to be, so slow in fact he didn't even manage to foul anyone.

Sunderlands's goal was superb, Oviedo from the edge of the are after a short corner. It was even better with the plaintive cry of "Close him down you caant" from the main stand just before. On the balance of the first half they deserved the lead although the stats suggest they only had two shots.

Millwall were better in the second half. Their wingers pushed forwards and their best play was through George Saville who looked very good, probing and creating. They equalised from a part-cleared corner given by the goal-line decision system.

And that was about it. Sunderland didn't bother to attack in the second half until injury time when they got a free kick just outside the area - they wasted it - and Millwall failed to make another good chance despite a lot of attacking play. On that evidence, I'm not convinced Lee Gregory is quite good enough for the Championship, a bit slow and wanting an extra touch too often.

1-1 was about right, neither side deserved more.

They have had a run of easier opposition. It also shows how little there is between the top of the relegation zone and the bottom of the play-offs. A lot of it is about injuries, confidence and falling on winning combinations on the pitch.

Once in the play-offs the teams there all have some weaknesses. I am not sure the best quality always wins out. Fight plays a large part which I am sure Millwall will have in abundance. One decision here or there that changes the course of a match is vital. How often does the team that finished 3rd (maybe more than 10 points above another) lose out?

Ex-player [also a legend] as manager, who cares and is passionate about the club, and having read Harry's preview... he's basically set up 2 x 11 squads of 4-4-2 so each position has a direct replacement and is a specialist in that position - football is really a simple game, conceptually;- pitch, players, ball, goals

I, also, would love them to make the play offs and win.

They are my local football club, "no one likes them" [copyright], and it would give hope to most forward thinking clubs in the country be they in Championship or league 2.

But today I hope they get soundly thrashed by a resurgent Ipswich team unloading goals for fun after the footballing equivalent of constipation.

To be fair there are no real easier opposition for us imo .

And besides, we got good draws at Villa, Preston, Bristol City and Cardiff City even before the good run. Plus beat Middlesbrough and Sheffield United at home & held Cardiff City and Wolves.

I would fear Fulham over two legs - but no one else in this division.

Had to laugh ata Millwall fans comment on the radio.

They have increased the players wages by 500%, it is the only reason teams play better apparently.

If the mIllwall players drink 'two kegs' I'm sure even Town could beat them

I would argue against that. But I know most Wall fans like to keep up the 'just a knock about club off the Old Kent Road' mentality up, no matter what.

I think he probably means we are not doing anything fancy - but keep beating these bigger clubs with huge budgets.

Which is why I pulled up that 'easier' opposition comment - Forest have spent more on one player this season than we have on total transfers combined in last 20 years!

Basically they have started to win away, as their home form has always been good. They managed to bring in a couple of additions to improve them in January, and they have played teams at the bottom of the table recently. They have quite a tough run-in.

They're well organized and just like when we got into the play-offs they're dogged in winning football matches and with that comes belief and confidence and probably even a different pressure than being in the bottom six..

This is the first time i have ever backed the opposing side to Town in my bet of the day, just think their confidence is sky high and that extra days rest will tell on us..
