Can't see us winning this Saturday on 10:46 - Jan 11 with 3416 views | MattinLondon | So far this season, Sunderland have either lost or drawn half of their matches. They are totally beatable. When will some actually start to believe that we are a very good championship team.

Can't see us winning this Saturday on 10:49 - Jan 11 with 3384 views | SomethingBlue | The next couple of weeks will be difficult for us I think – and I agree that without all of Hirst/Morsy/Davis/possibly a specialist right-back, it starts to look very hard for us to win games. But I suspect we have enough about us to come on strongly again from February: the players and management will hold their nerve and fans need to rediscover some emotional resilience for a rocky phase too.

Can't see us winning this Saturday on 10:53 - Jan 11 with 3327 views | ChampionsofInnsbruck | I agree, it's going to be tough without Davis, Burgess, Morsy and Hirst, we have a ton of midfielders now but having to limp on with Ladapo and Jackson playing the Hirst role will be the killer. I can't see Southampton or Leeds dropping any points. I guess Frimley and Steve M were right in their assessment that going into the season without a second legitimate "Hirst" option was a mistake, and probably one more costly than we anticipated given our position. We had a huge points advantage going into the bad run, bottling the derby, getting hammered by Leeds and failure to lay a glove on QPR and Stoke really has shown we are far from the finished article, which is what many predicted would happen. We'll finish in the Playoffs but won't be promoted this season is my feeling, we just don't have the squad depth to pull through this time and failure to get that Hirst replacement in before Saturday will be a bit of a killer. That might be an unpopular view, but we've had a fantastic season given what players we do have, I have no complaints, we're a work in progress.

QPR and Stoke have been worse and we looked as bang average as they were! The Leicester comeback is the rare moment we've had since before the derby that even gave us a glimmer of hope, and that was inspired and led by Morsy, who is out for two games....
Can't see us winning this Saturday on 11:02 - Jan 11 with 3252 views | SuperKieranMcKenna | Hopefully we’ll be bumping this Saturday night… Would suggest Sunderland are in a similar position in that they have 17 quality wingers but no championship quality striker. Possible that a Prem team might move for Clarke in this window as well.

'Glimmer of hope' is ridiculously strong IMO. I don't make us clear favourites for Saturday given injuries but we're hardly 10/1 outsiders either. Sunderland blow very hot and cold, while we've had just one dodgy home league performance in months.
Can't see us winning this Saturday on 11:27 - Jan 11 with 3061 views | SitfcB | I think/hope Davis will be back. We’ve had two weeks on the training ground for this league game (doubt much work took place for the Wimbledon game) Beale still new to Sunderland and finding his feet, always feel confident against an opposition manager who doesn’t know much about us.

Will come back after the window. You deserve nothing for such negativity but the team will let you down and come good.
Can't see us winning this Saturday on 11:44 - Jan 11 with 2907 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | Its going to be a tough game no doubt. Sunderland are stacked with quality. Jack Clarke, Roberts, Ekwah, Ballard. They are a seriously strong team who were in the playoffs last year and may well end up there again. I Hope Leif is back. No Knock on Humphreys but we just aren't the same team going forward without him. But Sunderland can be got at. For all their good players, they have looked far from convincing under Beale and the fans weren't and still aren't enamoured with the appointment.

Can't see us winning this Saturday on 11:48 - Jan 11 with 2847 views | Marshalls_Mullet | I think Broadhead is a Champ quality striker, but not in the mould of Hirst. He may not usually play as an out and out striker for us, but I understand he has for others.

Can't see us winning this Saturday on 12:05 - Jan 11 with 2745 views | orfordbuoy | As questioned in the thread, and beforehand, should the club have had a better back-up striker or plan if/when Hirst became unavailable? I think it's fair to ask that. You can argue that Ladapo, Scarlett and Jackson did not step up to the plate - and this was unfortunate. You can also say that it would be a luxury outside our budget to have a Hirst.2 sitting on the sidelines. Maybe Mckenna has a cunning plan against Sunderland, but on Saturday we will be playing with a weaker team than this time last year.

I'm not sure about your last sentence. This time last year our starting lineup against Plymouth was Walton Donacien Woolfenden Burgess Davis Evans Morsy Burns Chaplin Harness Ladapo Davis and Morsy will obviously be a big miss for us, but Williams or Clarke are an upgrade on Donacien, Luongo and upgrade on Evans, Taylor or Travis will be decent understudies for Morsy. Whilst we won't be much stronger than this time last year, we certainly aren't weaker.
