Was swapping tales in a bar in Hong Kong with some bloke (Welsh expat I think) and he told me that all you got to do is "just keep moving".
Maybe he was bored of my conversation but I think he was encouraging me to keep trying out new experiences in life, thus the world is a small place. Great advice. I personally can't think of anything worse than settling down in your twenties where you grew up but I know far flung adventures aren't everyone's cup of tea.

When I got my first weeks wages at my new company aged 19 I was stopped £6 pension. I went to my union rep to complain as I hadn't asked for it. He told me to keep paying as it is to my advantage and although I lived at home with my parents one day I'd be glad I had a pension. I took early retirement aged 50. |
Second best piece of advice for me wasn't really one soundbite, or what any one individual said, but a lunchtime conversation (so many soundbites, ho-ho) in an open-plan office when I was working as a social worker for LB Lambeth around 1988.
It had just become a legal thing for us to be able to opt out of local govt. pension schemes and choose our own. After about 20 minutes casual chat (whilst sarnie chewing) between approx 6 of us, we unanimously came to the conclusion that it was safer to stay in. Tfft! | |

Best business advice - Obtain the services of a good accountant, they should always be able to save you more than they cost you. Also, you don't have to like everyone you do business with, but it helps.
