Doubt it. Age 28, played for Spurs and England, earned a hill of money. Can you see him busting a gut or devoting his own time in the way the likes of Chaplin does? Two reserve appearances in two years. There’s more chance of Nelson getting his eye back. Instead of KM wasting his time trying to turn washed up Alli around, I would rather it was spent, along with the £10k a week plus bonus on a hungry, promising player. |

They’re up to 90 pages on us now. Some are saying well done us, others want to see Leeds go up, such is their hatred. I quote one idiot: ‘Leeds are a 'super' club, well at least a pretty big club. Small provincial town Ipswich 16k fans in midtable Champ, just think they are’ I don’t think I’ve heard any ITFC fan say we are a big club. We aren’t and people aren’t daft enough to think otherwise. Not so much from chief hater DaveFevs on that thread. I presume all the disappointment of us not being declared bankrupt or relegated has encouraged him to wind his neck in. |

More rubbish to fill the virtual pages. Why on earth would KM go there? They’ve reach their peak and can only go one way. Same with Palace and the likes of West Ham and the rest. I think McKenna will go only to one of the big six plus maybe Aston Villa or Newcastle. Nothing in it for him anywhere else. |

Good selection. I’d add Sargent to that little lot. But I’d bin Whittaker as he didn’t want to come here and Downes who couldn’t get away fast enough. Clark, Chair and the three Hull lads have impressed me, as have Sara, Rowe and Sargent. If we make it and they don’t, I wouldn’t mind nabbing one or two of them just to hack off the budgies. We could always loan them out to a Championship rival. |

There’s already been posts about him. I know people love a big name, a star, a marquee signing. Kind of makes people feel we are part of the elite, big time. Warm with excitement. £100k a week for two appearances for Everton in two seasons. Done nothing in years but pick up his dough. Great value. People keep waving Barkley around who has also hosed his career up the wall. Yes, he’s had a better season for probably to be relegated Luton - whoopee. In every way I can’t see anyone more ill suited to Ipswich Town than Dele Alli. Why would you want him here? Resurrect his career? Fat chance. Darren Anderton was a good player and there’s more chance of dear old sick note making a comeback and playing 36 straight games than 28 year old Alli making something of what’s left of his ebbing career. Somebody will be mug enough to pay a big wedge for his errrrrr, ‘services’. I hope and doubt it’ll be us. [Post edited 1 May 18:02]

| Forum Reply | 35k capacity ground isn't even enough is it? at 14:22 1 May 2024
Given how structured, planned and organised everything has become under Gamechanger, I think they’re bound to do their homework on this and get the expertise in if they don’t have it. I doubt they’d go for the kind of ill thought out ‘ride the wave’ management the Board showed in 2001. I think 35k is enough capacity and that won’t be for some years. Training Ground is the priority at the moment and finishing the boxes in Pioneer Stand. Maybe do some upgrades to the facilities underneath it and something better than the circus tent on the old training pitch - a fanzone upgrade. Whatever, it’s very exciting! |
| Forum Reply | Unknown US Civil War Generals..... at 09:13 1 May 2024
That’s the American narrative. They declared war for a number of reasons, the main one being the Republicans loathing of Britain. Every single objective was missed. They like to claim Britain wanted America back. It didn’t. It didn’t want to lose Canada. It wanted the right to press British sailors on foreign ships - something all belligerent nations adhered to bar America in picking a fight. Britain never wanted a war. It was a tiny sideshow, the main event being the war against Napoleon. The US publicises its big 44 gun frigates’ victories over 36 gun smaller frigates in a ‘fair fight’. Only Shannon/Chesapeake are actually matched. The main one they crow about is Constitution/Guerriere. They neglect to mention Guerriere had about half the weight of fire to Constitution and its advantage in mobility was negated by masts so rotten that it couldn’t manoeuvre to capacity or get away without them falling over the side, not that R.N. Captains ran away in those days. By 1815, the US Navy was bottled up or lost. Constitution’s sister ship USS President was taken by the smaller HMS Endymion as a prize. USS Essex bas burned along with a few other ships. Privateers were captured by Britain at a ratio of 10-1. Insurance rates for British merchant ships stayed the same throughout the war, which demonstrated that the US navy was not able to interfere at all, in real terms. The US lost its far east trade. Its capital was captured and after a nice dinner the British burned the White House down. The US economy was bankrupted totally by blockade and took 15 years to recover. They failed to take Canada - a prime objective. By every measure they lost the war. It was a sideshow for the British. One that they won comprehensively. At the peace conference, Impressment wasn’t even discussed. Britain retained the right, but had no need. Napoleon was defeated and that form of ‘recruitment’ was not needed. The threat to Canada was over and Britain was all set to expand its interests (empire). The biggest losers were the native Americans who were wiped out eventually, all agreements reneged on. The US gobbled up Florida and Louisiana at France/Spain’s expense and of course expanded slavery over the next 50 years. One thing the war did do was help define the US as a nation. That process finished in 1865 with the ending of the Civil War, of course. |

I noticed that. Looks like they may have to rethink their schedule! 😃 McKenna in the last week or two has displayed his feelings a little more, but he’s a seriously measured, controlled person. How he wasn’t doing a Chambers at Charlton interview I’ll never know. It’s noticeable how much respect everyone, including the sky people, have for him. And he deserves it. |

Yep, nearly there, Garv. I hope you can believe it because I can’t. The more I think about it, the more unreal it is. Last season we trampled all over Derby, Bolton, Barnsley, Peterborough and a load at home because we were miles better. This feels different. Every team is as tough as hell. I hoped Coventry would take it easy. Did they heck. All those games in the last 10 days and they were as professional as you get. So were Hull. Watford and Middlesbrough too. Cliche but it’s correct - there are no easy games in the Championship. Yet 45 games in, here we stand. No financial doping. 45 games says luck plays no part either. We are 93 points on merit. A damn good team, squad and most important of all, club. One more push. [Post edited 1 May 1:14]

Good lad! He’s learning! My dad and I had some dodgy moments back in the day. Got into all sorts of trouble, but he was as bad as me. Mind you, we kept it quiet at Millwall as the goals rained in and even slumped and looked miserable for most of the 130 minutes or however long it lasted. The away end tonight was as loud as hell for the full 102 minutes. They clearly enjoyed it and earned their moment. Brilliant. |

Who cares. The next four days are about us and getting it done. If we can do that they can print any t shirt they like. Maybe one of a beer can on a bmw bonnet with a couple of lemon sucking saddos in the car. |

They were both excellent. But then they all were. Coventry kept them honest (they’re a good side), but they really dug in. |

I think getting to the PL first and having a good season in the PL - then McKenna will surpass GB. Long way to go yet. Different times, different situation makes comparisons difficult. But what an astonishing job KM has done along with the coaches, players and everyone at the club. 191 points, 191 goals in two seasons with a game to play. Astonishing. |
