Bolton struggles on 01:01 - Mar 20 by Illinoisblue
Ask him to explain which yellow and red cards Bolton shouldn’t have got that night
Always thought the second pen was a funny one in that it was more of a coming together. But it's irrelevant anyway because Jim missed it! He should probably have been booked early doors as he was going a bit 'full on gazza' at the time. But that's about it. Maybe whitlows straight red but I think he'd been booked anyway.

Bolton played well and scored 3 fine goals but their dirty play caught them out.Plus we had so much passion going into the game after Stewie's 2 goals at their place dragged us back into the tie. That night we were never going to lose. I can also liken the positivity to the semi & final in 78 and the P/O final. All 4 games were in the bag before we kicked a ball.

Every card was justified and they should have lost players earlier. They completely lost it. Ironically, it cost them the game. Still, they had about 9 seasons in the prem under fat Sam, so blaming their woes on a referee and another club the year before they were promoted makes no sense to me. That play off game was truly amazing.

He had, Whitlow was definitely shown yellow then red

Whitlow was lucky not to get a straight red for sticking his finger in Magiltons face first half - and chasing the ref with the rest of his team. As for the other bloke sent off in extra time, I had a good view of the ‘challenge’ and it was a see you later straight red card all day long.

In fairness, I still hold a major dislike of Bolton from their bully boy antics across both legs (although I wasn't keen on them before), it back firing and their subsequent denial of it even to this day.

In retrospect, I thought both our first 2 penalties shouldn't have been given. Jim dived for the first & I even thought at the time that Ritchie played the ball for the 2nd.

Jim dived!!! Are you kidding. DId you miss Warhurst sticking his leg out to trip him as Jim twisted past.
Watch the completely unbiased review from our friends at Granada:
I still cannot get my head around their attitude to this night - my housemate at uni was a Bolton fan and went on and on about this.
I had to bring the video/DVD back after one holiday to watch with all our mates and they couldn't believe what he was moaning about as it is all so blatant.
They tried to kick us off the pitch and the ref stood up to them, they were a good side and didn't need to play like that - it cost them.

The commentary for the second penalty. And the analysis at the end! Whitlow given "a red card for falling over".
