VAR - What a farce, how to improve it ?
at 05:24 3 Jul 2019
It is just making the game worse at the moment, long delays and crazy marginal decisions.
Time to learn from other sports
Put it in the hands of the captains, only one failed referral per half, and the game only stops when the ball is in the possession of the team calling the referral or dead.
This would stop the marginal calls, players usually know. I don't think the USA would have risked their review on that goal last night, it could be too valuable later in the game on a more significant decision.
Suffolk show advice please
at 08:43 29 May 2019
I'm going to the show tomorrow for the first time
We will need to leave at about 3:30
For experienced show goers :
1) Whats the best time to head for the show to avoid too much traffic ?
2) How easy is it to park ?
3) Is the food stupidly expensive ? How much seating is there ?
4) Is there a picnic area ? Is it big ?
5) Any tips on what is best to see ? (Going with two girls, 12 & 10)
We have become a managerial graveyard
at 15:05 25 Oct 2018
Since Burley :
Royle - Managed Oldham for 9 games a few years after leaving us
Magilton - Managed QPR for less than a season
Keane - Has not managed a club again
Jewell - Has not managed again
McCarthy - Still out of work
Pretty remarkable stat in my view !
The thing that worries me most about Hurst
at 08:32 3 Oct 2018
I think Hurst has misjudged the gap between league 1 and the championship, and consequently some of his signings are not adapting well, but the thing that worries me most is team selection. It seems so random, he seems to drop players who are playing well (Edwards !), he has blundered significantly in the starting line up for both the Brentford and Boro games - rectifying both at half time, but it was too late then.
For me the team should be (assuming we stick to Hurst's 4-5-1) :
Bart (it may be unfair on Gerken, but Bart is the better keeper, the stats support this)
Donacien (Has looked solid, crosses well, created two of our best moments last night)
Use Pennington as cover for all but Knudsen where I would use Kenlock
Choose one of Skuse or Chalobah to be the sitting midfielder
Have Dozzell alongside to 'quarterback' the team
Edwards on the right.
Left wing is problematic, Ward and Graham are both average, perhaps try Rowe.
If we can get them fit, play one of Bishop or Huws at 10, if not play Nolan
Sears - He showed well last night against the toughest defence in the league. Have Jackson on the bench to use his pace later on.
Most importantly, stick with the same team where possible to get some consistency !
Donacien's work permit - Question for Phil
at 13:24 3 Sep 2018
Hi Phil, do you have any idea what the timescale is for this ?
It will be good to be able to pick a team without the loan restriction affecting us
Cynical play from Derby
at 08:50 22 Aug 2018
I know we didn't create much in general, but two times we did have promising attacks going they were stopped by cynical professional fouls by Bryson and Keogh. Both taking a yellow card for the team. Those fouls significantly reduced our chances of scoring, it does make me question the rules of the game !
at 12:45 20 Feb 2018
This sport seems to be a bit of a farce, in almost every race I've seen someone gets disqualified, and most of the time no one seems to know why, including the ex speed skater they have commentating on the BBC !
This really spoils the spectacle for me, wouldn't it be better if the ran it like the cycling where the skaters started on opposite sides of the track, and it was truly down to speed ?
EFL rivalries programme last night
at 08:16 18 Oct 2017
I watched this last night and thought it was quite good, although it did miss a few things on our side (Megson's own goal, Danny Haynes)
The one that staggered me though was Warky's sending off, I'd only ever seen it live in the ground, how on earth was that a red card ?
And the way Durkin then gesticulated and dismissed him was completely out of order in my view, total lack of respect.
EU negotiations are a joke
at 13:07 12 Oct 2017
No EU concessions, warns Barnier
Concluding his remarks, Barnier warns the EU won't be making concessions during future negotiations.
This is what has been said, if this is the case their whole basis for negotiation is that they have a position and aren't budging and just want us to roll over and pay the divorce bill.
Therefore it is not a negotiation, just a waste of time !
Our strikers teamwork
at 07:55 27 Sep 2017
Just had a look at the Championship top scorer stats, and to have three in the list is fantastic, Garner, Waghorn and Didzy have 13 league goals between them and also 7 assists. Very few of the others in the list have even 1 assist. Shows we are a team and lots of dangerous players, COYB !
We should shout for Huddersfield in the play off final - it will screw Naaarwich
at 08:32 18 May 2017
I think the scum are lining Wagner up as their manager, their new director of football came from Huddersfield and stated that their target was at a club whose season was still ongoing.
If Huddersfield win, he will surely stay and try his hand at the premier league won't he ?
Therefore it will force the scum away from their preferred option
Come on Town !
at 08:43 9 Mar 2017
The Barca match got me thinking of great comebacks involving Town, on the plus side I remember being at Barnsley in 96, 3-0 down with 5 minutes to go and getting a 3-3 draw, at the other end was Oxford away in 86, 3-0 up and lost 4-3.
Anyone think of any more ?
