They’ve changed the interpretation and this is no longer a penalty. I had a long discussion with an EPL ref two weeks ago where the sending off of Diaz for City v Fulham was used as the example - red last year not even a penalty this. |  | | |

If everyone takes the blinkers off it was a penalty (although obviously less of a pen than the Hirst one). He also gave the ball away a good amount including getting Morsy booked, conceding needless corner etc. Don’t mean to single him out but he shouldn’t be anything more than cover (which I assume is the plan anyway). I'd says ours was far more obvious than their's. Theirs was seen them given, seen them not without VAR. Ours was a stonewaller. Reckon the ref didn't dare give it after the decision in the first half, espeically as their centre back would have been due a red card too. | |

I think with VAR, the one on Clarke they don't intervene as it's not a clear and obvious error. The one on Hirst, he's being called to his monitor no question. | |
