| Forum Thread | Boring, everyone probably already knows ticket question at 19:24 6 Jan 2023
Change of circumstances mean I need to buy a pair of tickets in the upper cobbold for tomorrow's game and get rid of the ones I have in lower north. Will the ticket office be open tomorrow so I can get a refund on the old ones? Or if someone wants a pair of tickets in section 5 then happy to sell them at face value obviously which would help me out a lot if I can't give them back to the club. Thanks. |

Become a problem for us hasn’t it? Not strictly talking red cards either - games in which we struggle (yes, most games I know) we end up just giving away frustrated fouls again and again which doesn’t help us one bit and only helps the opposition slow the game down. All stems from not being well drilled enough to play ourselves back in the game and the natural frustration of not being able to lay a glove on the other team. All a bit pathetic really. |
| Forum Thread | Town trend data at 17:45 7 Feb 2021
The excellent Experimental361 has updated his 'trend' data for the top 4 leagues over the past 3 seasons which shows whether a club is over or under achieving through the metrics of goals scored against expected goals scored and goals conceded against expected goals conceded. I know you can overanalyse things you can see with your eyes, and things like xG aren't always the best measures of certain situations but the Town one here backs up what has been pretty obvious to everyone. Essentially, for this season and the last, we overachieved for the first part, then promptly slid down into underachieving. The same thing has happened again with the same manager twice. It also shows just how awful we were in the relegation season, consistently failing to meet a pretty dismal expected goal difference bar. I guess this sort of thing is missing from Evans' folder of 'facts' that means Lambert should stay. |
| Forum Thread | Lambert on dealing with injuries now he's binned off the fitness coach: at 11:32 4 Dec 2020
"We've got a few lads mucking in". Ffs this isn't a local Under 12s side where one of the parents brings some oranges at HT and another knows how to make a sling. This is important stuff, and constantly referencing the freak injuries at Liverpool doesn't excuse anything. No-one important at the club has any pride in it, they just keep talking it down and act like we've come up from the National League and are punching well above our weight. I appreciate this veers into 'over-analysing manager speak' territory but the problem is they genuinely seem to believe what they say and back it up with (in)actions. |
| Forum Thread | If you nothing about the teams but were told one was in League 2 last year... at 15:55 31 Oct 2020
...you wouldn't think it was Crewe. Excellent control of the ball, lack of the right pass at the right time stopping them from breaking through more than they have. Should have scored the one Holy managed to fling a big paw to. Getting sick and tired of Town getting the ball and immediately passing it backwards with barely a glance forwards. We look like we don't really know what to do and are making it very easy for Crewe to get into shape then go again when they inevitably are handed the ball back. Mick Mills probably calling it right that going behind could give them a serious wound (hence why they're where they are rather than challenging at the top), but we don't look anywhere near making that happen. |

Playing like it. Passes off, touch too heavy if he manages to control the ball at all, shots weak and dragged into the ground. Get Dobra on. |
| Forum Thread | Contacting the ticket office at 11:27 8 Sep 2020
Has anyone had to contact the ticket office whilst they've been closed? And how long did it take them to respond? I had to reset my password on the ITFC site because I forgot it (I actually forgot I'd changed it when we had to sign up again when Town switched over to SeatGeek earlier this year), but haven't received an email prompting me to do so (email sent to them yesterday early AM). I subsequently remembered what my password was but, presumably because I requested a reset, it won't let me log in. Normally the ticket office people usually deal with stuff like this but as they're closed they 'may take longer to respond to emails'. My concern is that I need to register my interest in attending games by Thursday and if I can't log in then I can't access iFollow so can't watch them anyway. Is there an alternative way of contacting them if they don't respond by, say, Wednesday evening , or do I need to call them out on Twitter or something to prompt a response? |
| Forum Thread | Bernie Sanders Out at 17:26 8 Apr 2020
So that leaves a presidential face-off between two of America's most senile men. The election stuff has been understandably pushed to the back burner but there's a cruel, sad irony in the wretched state of US healthcare being laid bare by a pandemic whilst a candidate who has dedicated his political career and ran for president on a platform to change that has been bullied out of the race by an establishment that wanted to protect its own interests. Not to say he was faultless in every way but it's a real shame that someone with genuine care and compassion for the lives of everyday people will never reach the ultimate goal. In fact I don't think anyone will, there are just too many people in higher places to ever let that happen. And the stupid thing is Bernie isn't even *that* radical, he just threatens the status quo. Obviously he's not dead and can still battle on the senate floor (and has already helped put assurances into bills that should aid Americans during this crisis better than they would have been) but he'll still have the Joe Bidens of the world standing in his way. I hope his message and his movement fights on, but it'll be hard pushed to find a better standard-bearer. |

In short, is it worth it? Following on from the gaming thread elsewhere (not posting this on there so not to disrupt it), I was thinking of returning to FM after a few years' absence given that, like a lot of people, I now have more time when I'm at a bit of a loose end. £40 on steam is quite a bit and whilst I've found it enjoyable in the past, I've heard/read lots of mixed reviews for this one but hard to judge some comments as they could just be people taking it too seriously getting mad that not everything falls their way. |

3rd in the trilogy after “playing away from home might help” and “being hunters rather than hunted might help”. Utterly clueless if it wasn’t dazzlingly obvious already. The subs and switch of formation today summed him up. Gave it large when a youth team beat Peterborough’s youth team to hit back at what he saw as ‘ridiculous negativity’. Did the same last week when we put Burton away. He’s an arrogant, pig-headed man well out of his depth sitting on a comfy contract because he successfully pulled the wool over an incompetent owner’s eyes. At least Jewell had the dignity to go and tell Evans he needed to go and be replaced by someone who could do a better job. |
| Forum Thread | "Just look at Leeds, Sunderland, the Sheffield teams"... at 15:39 14 Feb 2020
Ok Paul, I will. *shout out Dubbers in another thread who made this point and prompted me to confirm what I thought he was saying was correct* When Leeds were relegated to League 1 they had a 15 points deduction so promotion attempts were handicapped. They still finished in the play-offs and had they not had the deduction they'd have been Champions. Gary McAllister replaced Dennis Wise half-way through then he was replaced the following season by Simon Grayson who got them up the season after. This was all 2007-2010. Sunderland sacked their manager this season after play-off failure and are now in there again. TBC on that one. Sheffield Wednesday, controversially, sacked forum favourite Gary Megson when 3rd in the table in their 2nd season down since relegation in 2010. They ended up in 2nd. Sheffield Utd changed manager a few times before Wilder took them up. They were in League 1 from 2011-2017. Worth mentioning they changed owner as well and actually know what they're doing as a club but that's a separate point. So, whilst there are always nuances, Lambert's point that big clubs have had it bad down here before comes with the caveat that making things better again involved a change in manager. A large plate of hobnobs for Phil if he makes that point in the next presser. Plus of course most of the above was several years ago where the fast-changing nature of the game makes it almost incomparable. Sh!tters like Rotherham and Millwall have come down and bounced back up straight away or very quickly in more recent years anyway. We all knew that his 'big clubs have struggled' line was a way of avoiding scrutiny but it lays it out pretty clearly that it's certainly not an excuse for his own shortcomings. |
