Tate is a former professional kickboxer who sells "coaching" for how to make money and how to pick up women. He's in this weird incel, misogynistic social media crowd where he "coaches" all the nonsense about 'being an alpha male' and being a POS to women. He's basically a grifter who specialises in misogynism.

I had to look him up as never heard of him. Sounds like he has a small dick, a lot of cars and just got owned all the way into jail by a teenager.

No idea, but he doesn’t sound like someone either of us would value.

Apparently he’s been boasting about how many cars he owns thinking it would buy him respect. No, I don’t understand that either.

I think the issue with him is that he is generally preaching to the converted, and no amount of hectoring, derision or condescension (which he regularly uses on his radio phone-in programme) is going to win over those who do not share his views.

That brilliantly sums up what and where we are, and you have - quite literally - made me cry. But I thank you.

I don't understand why so many of us, even those who have a reasonable understanding of the situation, still seem to have our heads in the sand as we focus on trivialities and the pursuit of individual 'wealth' while the world we and our children depend on is being irreversibly destroyed around us.

It makes no sense.

"...we focus on trivialities and the pursuit of individual 'wealth' while the world...is being irreversibly destroyed."

It's because society tells us to. The narrative that "wealth is good" is a strong and long lasting one, be that through advertising, music, film, education, parenting.

And tbf a lack of wealth / poor income is incredibly damaging to our health, well being and life experiences.

Consumerism is deeply ingrained in our society, the pursuit of things, of status are what 90% of people obsess about. Slowly changing but not holding my breath.

We are all going to have to make what might seem like huge sacrifices in our 'standard of living', but I think many are going to realise that standard of living as defined by individual wealth is a misleading metric anyway, and happiness comes from being free in your soul (and warm and fed) rather than by piling up trainers and iPhones knowing you are contributing to burning your own house down.

To my mind a rough measure of Earth Destruction, or Environmental Damage is proportional to the product of Population and average Standard of Living, ED = x.P.SoL, so if we can't control population we have to reduce our average standard of living (and redistribute it), or die.

Capitalism and consumerism need to end now or we are f**ked, permanently.

An analogy that just occurred to me is that we are like a kid sitting on the beach making sandcastles as a crocodile comes out of the water, and we say "Ooh, look a crocodile", then start filling the fũcking bucket up again.

However, if these people are not cut down with ridicule, they keep staging bigger and bigger narcissistic stunts until they get elected President or Prime Minister and trash entire countries.

No no no I’m sorry this is totally wrong.
The whole reason for eg Trump got elected or Tate makes kids of money is precisely because of the exposed to ridicule policy you espouse.
When will clever people learn not everyone thinks like them?

Edit; kids? Loads!

Although there is truth to this, he is more interested in making money, the notoriety is a part of that.

I doubt prison is going to be a friendly place for him. He deserves it not to be by all accounts.

Absolutely spot on.

If you are unable to spot it in your own life then you lack self-awareness too ... unless you happen to live on the breadline while holding down a decent job and giving most of your money to very deserving causes (or similarly putting the needs of others above our own comfort). I doubt any of us does.
