Those of you who baited mick - this is on you 17:25 - Feb 22 with 17715 viewsartsbossbeard

Those who were "offended" by being "sworn at" by mick - this is on you.

Those of you who called mick a child molester at Brentford - this is on you.

This isn't what I wished for.

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

Prior to last week's match against Burton I watched the 'highlights' on YouTube of our previous game against them at Portman Road. We were turgid, cluelss, ineffectual and one-dimensional. This was under Mick and was hardly a one off.

Mick leaving is not the issue and I can't even blame Evans for hiring Hurst afterwards. The Lambert appointment confused me when it happened and I'm becoming increasingly baffled match by match.

Lambert seems to be a 'you'll do' appointment rather than representing anything in particular.

Giving him the 5 years recently appears to be an indication Evans has accepted our inability to greatly improve with the funds he can manage (or is prepared to put into the club) and so is accepting mediocrity as a real option.

Most definitely.

Most on here barely go to games let alone pluck up the courage to throw verbals at away games so I very much doubt it. Think debating Mick close to two years after his departure is getting a bit sad now though and probably time to be archived.

What an absolute k**b .... McCarthy achieved nothing ... Lambert nothing and Hurst was a joke.... it’s the employer not the employee !!!

His football was awful to watch, but it’s pretty obvious McCarthy didn’t achieve nothing. He held together a poor side under ever increasing constraints. He also helped balance the books a bit with some smart buys (not that I care too much about the books).

And kept us relevant.

But the point is, we were fairly steady if not exactly progressive and that should have been built on, not ripped apart the way it has been.

You're spot on. There's a lot of guilt and blood on many hands, they were after all the rightful (and entitled) majority, as they were keen to revel in once he had gone.

However, expecting them to admit they've fcuked up is fruitless, let alone the chance to take responsibility for it. As there is also the fact that Evans was gutless enough to panic about ST sales and listen to them, both in getting rid and getting behind Hurst without the checks and balances until it was too late.

They will be keen to as ever, blame someone else, and it certainly isn't the lion's share on the bedsheets, but they were the ones who forced Evans' hand time and again. The lack of outrage since, tells us everything.

“Gutless enough to panic about ST sales?” - i’d argue he showed perfectly sensible business acumen.

Nowhere at PR do I ever here Mick’s name mentioned any more, not where I sit anyway. Nor do I hear it in conversation at away games yet every week on here there’s a tiny collective who harp back to it. It’s done. Let it go. It only serves to divide which I guess was the underlying sentiment of the original post. Fans can’t be blamed for wanting change or the idea of something better. It’s a nonsense argument to keep saying it’s “all the fans fault”. It was completely within Mick’s hands to save himself but he was too proud to. Others see it as a badge of honour, I see it as foolish.

Those of you who baited mick - this is on you on 18:00 - Feb 22 by 44_not_out

The Numbskulls got their ‘young and upcoming track-suited manager’ from the lower leagues who had fresh ideas and would bring in the best talent from league one and two.

Remember that embarrassing flag being draped from the upper north with that gnomes face on it.

They wanted ‘our club’ back.... not sure where it had gone???

They wanted Football played ‘the right way’

At least we average over 50% possession in most games!

But the Numbskulls wanted MM out because he upset them with a naughty word!

Can someone tell me how this beats mid table in the Championship?

I bet you have been waiting ages to use the n word again haven’t you? 🙄

And there's a lot of broader and broader brushstrokes being painted in depicting the rosy halcyon days of 2017, like how you now appear to be suggesting that everyone who wasn't going to renew their season ticket was responsible for hounding Mick out, rather than just the Neanderthals that abused him.

Being bored sh*tless to the point of no longer considering it worthwhile paying a substantial sum to watch increasingly boring football whilst so many teams formerly inferior to us got their acts together in the meantime is not the same as behaving like that bunch of pricks at Brentford did.

But we are, as ever, back on the Escher staircase of dodgy logic where nobody seems to entertain the possibility that plummeting crowd numbers was going to make staying in the Championship harder and harder, and that some time or other (very, very likely late 2017 when Ireland came calling), Mick was going to leave us, regardless of why. Whose fault was it going to be then?

It's Evans. It has always been, is, and for goodness knows how long will be, Evans.

Why was it in Mick's hands to save himself? He didn't need to, he was always going to walk into something else with enough of a salary to sit back, sip his favourite wine and watch the demise that most knew would come.

When he left it was no coincidence that we instantly became relegation favourites and almost every pundit thought we would struggle. Rarely are so many pundits proved right.

Yeah, his football was at times dire, but some games I have sat through this season is far worse and were against fcking Wimbledon and Accrington, not Derby and Scum. Our current form just as Mick's was, Mid-table. The only difference is it's the fcking 3rd division.

They suggested that, not me. You appear to be conflating that as well putting lots of words in my mouth to push some superior line about logic, I wonder why?

Are you seriously suggesting Brentford was the only example or same contingent who baited (as ABB puts it) Mick? Come now. You've been hoisted by your own desperation there.

Rewrite history and the trajectory of this thread I presume. I'm not bold enough to pretend I can read your mind then lay it out here to suit myself.

Pretty much everything in your first post is a bad faith take of what I said laced with completely made up examples. As I asked before. I wonder why?

Indeed.

And without getting into an Evans thing because that's more nuanced too, it was mostly Mick's fault when we were overperforming compared to budget and now it's mostly Evans fault when we're underperforming compared to budget. In a lower league.

Yet any dissent or concern towards this was met with "Mick didn't sort out contracts for..... replace....." or outright abuse, hence the clamour to do down the OP etc.

Whilst inflammatory, there is a fair amount of truth in this.

ME is the real issue, but if there’s anyone who honestly believes we’re in a better position now than we ever were under Mick, then they are seriously kidding themselves.
