Been kindly gifted a bottle of Glen Scotia Double Cask. Not one for Scotch generally, love bourbon as a rule. Anyone here had it? Looks like a nice bottle of stuff but it's not something I've had and I don't want it to go to waste. |
| Forum Thread | Anyone know where I can buy a suit? at 19:41 25 Mar 2024
Went into Manchester this weekend, thought I'd pop into Moss Bros and it was no longer there. Guess it's a sign of the times, retail units change hands all the time and I rarely buy stuff that's not online; but I do wonder how shops will change over time. Suits are one of the few things I'd not buy without trying on, but I reckon I'll have to order online in a few years unless my budget goes up significantly! |
| Forum Thread | Had to ring the PoPo on the way home at 19:47 21 Mar 2024
Was driving along the M60 and noticed two people on bikes on the hard shoulder. Was probably kids (although hard to tell as I was driving normally) no lights, in the dark. Hopefully they got off safely, or I was hallucinating but I've never seen anything like that before. |
| Forum Thread | Bit boring that eh? at 17:23 16 Mar 2024
They didn't even pretend to be worthy of going up with us did they? Same gaps, same half hearted touches and frustrated fouls over and over again. Hope we sign that lad from Chelsea. Looks all right innit. |
| Forum Thread | Blackburn allocation at 18:24 13 Mar 2024
Has Sky put paid to a bigger allocation? Thought there might be appetite for a big allocation given how we've sold away days recently but it seems people aren't as enthused by another long trip with a funny kick off time. Anyone else think it likely we will want/take more if we can? Away support has been phenomenal this season (which isn't hard when we win so much) so are people keeping their powder dry for Nodge tickets or just not bothered by this one? |
| Forum Thread | I saw Wes with a little suitcase and a couple of mates walk past us afterwards at 20:04 9 Mar 2024
He looked very relaxed. Made me wonder what McKenna said and how the players were feeling. Having driven home, sunk a beer or so and listened to Talksport the whole way back, I feel a bit different now. A couple of young lads tried to banter with us as they drove past after the game. Fell a bit flat when I suggested we do that to teams all the time, it was just our turn for once. And that's probably the reason so many posts on here smell a bit of p1ss and panic. We had such a dizzying high on Tuesday, a great game and turn on Saturday before and then today was the implosion of all of that. When Moore scored I thought it was massive as we'd ridden out an early charge from them and seemed to get the squeeze on. The way we failed to manage out the game and see them off was so unlike us, just like losing really it's easy to panic for some I guess. But I thought whilst there were obvious deficiencies with Sarmiento starting and his poor decision making, when he did get a run on he showed even our poorer performers could get at Cardiff. Our pausing and interplay didn't always work because they don't press. So it was a bit like trying to punch a bedsheet flapping about and getting ourselves twisted up needlessly. I'm sure the defenders have been dragged, the fact we didn't hold up the ball or push it high and wide late on to try and stifle them, but it's all hindsight isn't it? Lots went wrong. Only Hull really did us any favours when Saints sounded like they might throw it away they rallied. How many weeks have fans of them, Lids and Leicester felt like that about us? We must be the equivalent of form table genital warts for the £100m clubs and today they got to scratch the itch a bit, that's all. Still fancy us to be one of the two to go up automatically. Mainly because I think McKenna will learn from that. Seeing him as not quite infallible, as some of players not always willing and able to run through walls for us etc might just give us the perspective to run at promotion again. Whereas had we drew or even won in poor fashion those small margins and gaps might not be so apparent. Let alone scrutinised by a manager who is so microscopic in his attention to detail. Waka waka hey hey and all that. |

| Forum Thread | Just got in the door from Plymouth: Long old poke down there at 21:45 3 Mar 2024
Atrocious weather yesterday, apparently we walked about 8 miles from the hotel to the pub, to the ground and back. I even got a blister for my trouble. But what a great weekend in a lovely part of the world. It's almost as good as being up North. Saw loads of old faces from here and elsewhere. From the pub full of people, to a friendly hand landing on my shoulder as I got the urinal in the ground, the catch ups and introductions didn't stop. Seems like a real feelgood factor around even before kickoff. I thought we were good value for the win. Plymouth were very delicate before, during and after, but I found in person they're a fanbase just like us. The internet nonsense and songs warp reality. Without patronising, you can see why they're such a big deal in League One and survival this season would be massive for them. They could have a good few years building at this level if they get it right. The carnage when big Keef walloped home his second was one of those season defining memories. Cuddles, punches, slight deafness. It had it all. Maybe it was being near the drum but around us was loud and the songs kept going. How did we sound? The women's game today was a very different experience. Town won at a canter eventually, and had one of the worst penalty decisions I've ever seen not given. My Huddersfield mate was at their game and reckons they were unlucky, things have massively improved as Moore was awful. He's like the rest of Yorkshire and determined Leeds fail it seems. Feels like clubs at all parts of the table are shifting a little as they eye the run in. Gonna be fun this. Especially if we continue like gentlemen and keep finishing second. |
| Forum Thread | Her game, my game, our game too? Not when Omari is about at 17:11 24 Feb 2024
Sign that boy up! Evidence suggests peroxide improves your goalscoring chances and it must be a matter of time before Woolf goes back to blonde now. I was going to praise Axel on here regardless but that assist and his overall game was excellent. Dembele's rubbish Mbappe impression as Axel sent him flying was even better than Laird being sent into orbit. I felt the only time Tuanzebe lost out, he was fouled. There's a slight downer with the injuries/knocks you might think but until we know the outcomes there's not much point worrying. Birmingham looked very handy and the Rooney debacle obscures that a bit, but apart from that Serbian fella they brought on for Dozzell they all looked decent value at this level I thought. Roberts in the first half seemed to be defending everything himself. |
| Forum Thread | Russian Money given to Tory MPs at 17:55 18 Feb 2024
Will we ever get a full list with accurate numbers? Seems astounding anyone is allowed to take foreign money in any capacity from foreign agents and not be in the Tower. After the death of Alex Navalny, and what seems to be one last scraping of the country's barrel before they're booted out, it does feel like alongside the obvious COVID fraud this needs thorough investigation. We've got a man with KGB links in the Lords and seemingly that isn't seen as a threat to British lives or interests by some. You do have to wonder what sort of gordian knots Starmer will have to cut through when he gets the keys to No. 10. |
| Forum Thread | Even Paul Hurst won at Swansea at 17:05 17 Feb 2024
But the only parallel here is that today won't give anyone false hope. We're very much still in this automatic race. The rain seemed to affect us much more, and the lack of possession and poor passing in the middle weren't usual features of our game. Burgess miss aside, was excellent value. Possibly our MOTM. Great to see AAH come on, cause chaos and get the fans up when we needed it. Whatever his ceiling is, he's going to have cult status by the summer isn't he? Jezza should have buried one, but even if our quality was somewhat diminished on the heavy pitch our attacking threat wasn't when we got a sniff of going clear. To win on a field of a pitch, to make use of timewasting and winding up the opposition is an important marker. Showed we can mix it up and develop on everything we've hated about opposition teams this season. Just need a few games where the ref gives us everything and you wouldn't know we weren't a parachute team. Chuffed with that today. |
| Forum Thread | It's bittersweet watching us falter isn't it? at 21:58 10 Feb 2024
Two obvious errors to allow them goals, against a team we already know shut up so effectively. The pass from Fridge was inexcusable given they'd torn us apart in the middle and he had Leif off to his left. We can cycle through the cliches and the narrow margins stuff, but it does feel a bit like individual errors are costing us. The gap we've bridged has been magnificent, but you can tell how much money and quality we are trying to negate when you come up against the WBAs and PNEs of the league and compare them. That ending was far too tense as well. Genuinely believed a 3rd was ours for the taking as we pressed on. Giving ourselves far too much to do two games running must be at the forefront of McKenna's work this week mustn't it? |
