Exactly. I laughed and then wondered to myself how many hours Huddersfield would allow their fans to go mental before unveiling the real kit, or whether it will be the same shirt with the sponsor on properly or the shirt is fake as well. Fans will be rightly annoyed by this and that their club is being used as the latest tool to troll people. Not sure why Huddersfield would allow this even if they have got a few extra grand from it, what with parachute payments and all. Hardly struggling. Not sure why you'd risk upsetting fans. Most will probably laugh but enough will be annoyed.

Agreed - I love Paddy Power’s ads (if not their business) but they did an announcement video yesterday in which actors playing their employees were like “Huddersfield? Really? Could we not have got Man City?” Or words to that effect. It was funny but I couldn’t stomach that if I were a Huddersfield fan. Maybe I should lighten up though. Also wondering if they won’t actually be sponsoring the shirt at all - they’ve just paid to do a little campaign pretending they will be. Another win for their ad agency if so.

They've gone all in if it is a wind up, main website, megastore website, noting it won't be on the kids shirts etc.... I'm still not convinced it is, we'll see though

if its not a wind up, they have done some serious interpreting of the rules.... so it wont be their shirt as the rules clearly say it cant be http://handbook.fapublications.com/#!/book/30/chapter/s2699-kit-and-advertising-

It breaches FA rules. Huddersfield will know that. Most sponsors try and make the logo as big as it can be permitted for maximum visibility. That Paddy Power sash must be about 3 times bigger in surface area than the maximum allows. What I don't get is why Huddersfield agreed? A few extra quid but it won't be much and all to what? Promote Paddy Power. It's not like more people will buy the real shirt than they would have done. Neutrals won't be buying it. It's a PR exercise by Paddy Power to get them and Huddersfield trending when they are the only ones that benefit. As others have said Paddy Power are effectively making fun of Huddersfield, like in their radio adverts, which some fans might see as funny, but we all know (given the flouncing over little things like £1.75 or pre-season defeats) a good number of their fans will be annoyed by.

I think Joe is on a wind up too... Either that or PP have gone so all out that they've got him in on it too!

Most fans will shrug, some will laugh and both Huddersfield and PP have got lots of publicity - how many people would have paid attention to their kit launch otherwise? You don’t half over think things sometimes

How does the publicity help Huddersfield though? It's not overthinking things. What do they get from it? Promotion and viral marketing is generally good. But how does this help a Championship football team from Yorkshire? In what way do they benefit financially from this? If anything, it's the reverse. 1-2% of their fans will probably be upset about it and it'll cause the club to have to deal with a few grumpy emails and tweets.

the fact people are talking about Huddersfield puts the location front of mind, theres a value in that as a concept for the place as a whole, people from outside will see if for what it is, amusing marketing, people there will mostly see the funny side, and be amused theyre all over the place trending. for what is very limited spend (mocking a site up, some pictures etc) , both HTFC and PP will be all over the media. We wouldnt be talking about them if it wasnt, so its worked. [Post edited 17 Jul 2019 11:29]

More exposure for the club, hits to the website, social media etc all making the club more marketable. How does it not help Huddersfield? Hell they could probably now bring out a limited number of the shirts for sale too and they’d sell like hotcakes

Magical Vegas even conceded to change there logo to black and white to make it stand out less from feed back from the fans. This is before Magical Vegas having a releagtion claus in there contract to walk away... yet they stayed with us.

Possibly because nobody has heard of them still and, even as a Town fan who has had accounts with Paddy Power, Bet 365, William Hill, Ladbrokes etc, I haven't even considered Magical Vegas enough to know what they even do / offer.
