Brexit party took about 50% of the vote (mate at the count)...

Make of that what you will.

At the moment, they aren't doing quite as well as I thought they would. Still early days though.

Labour 5th place in Scotland.

Reported turnout doesn't support the narrative that was being pushed of hordes of outraged Brexiteers either.

Looks like LibDem + Green could yet get more votes than Brexit. That would be a result. Tories and Labour absolutely trashed.

First time I voted. Late 1980s. Greens as a student protest vote in local elections.

Have not voted for them since.

Tonight is a protest vote and a poor predictor of how folk would vote in a GE.

Not claiming that Con/Lab do not deserve their kicking. LD and Greens tend to do well when folk are upset with the big two, but fail to follow through with similar numbers when it matters.

Brexit position is effectively UKIP results last time out plus a few more percentage points on top.

Ukip won 24 seats on 26% of vote in 2014. The Brexit Party projected to get same number of seats, 24, on 31% of the vote.

In Brexit heartland, an Essex count on 22:50 - May 26 with 2340 viewsClapham_Junction

With more than a quarter of councils declaring, so far we have:

Brexit Party 32%
UKIP 4%
= 36% for leave parties

Lib Dems 20%
Greens 11%
CHUK 4%
Plaid 4%
SNP 2%
= 41% for remain parties

Labour (probably majority remain): 15%
Tories (probably majority leave): 8%

Will be interesting to see how these change as the count goes on.

The results for the East of England are interesting.

Labour 5th behind the Tories. Brexit = (Labour + Tories) * 2 and also more than Lib Dems + Green + Change.

I'd argue at this stage it's Brexit Party is for No Deal Brexit, Labour and Conservatives for Soft Brexit and Lib Dems/Green/Change UK for Remain.

Impressive stuff, quite comfortably as well - 3% margin.

Tories and Labour both lost ~15% of their vote. If they don't get the message now then they never will.
