| Forum Thread | 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 hours!! at 15:03 9 Apr 2024
Took me 5 years! Snowden (1085m) 2006, Scafell Pike (978m) 2008, and finally Ben Nevis (1345m) 2011...the beers afterwards felt deserved! For me Snowden easiest, Scafell a bit other worldly up there in boulder strewn grey mist. Nevis the most gruelling long trek. Can't imagine doing all 3 in 24 hours. I expect many have done one or more of these and other peaks esp in Lake District. |
| Forum Thread | Favourite Porter? a supreme Winter beer... at 13:26 9 Apr 2024
Just seen Waitrose are selling two excellent Porters; St Peter's Plum Porter and Titanic Plum Porter!! Going for £5 for three, a bargain, Titanic at 4.9% alc costs around a fiver a pint in pubs. Prefer a pint of cool Titanic draught, goes down well. No ice of course. Never had St Peter's on draught. It's April and Porters still in supermarket can't be bad... |
| Forum Thread | Underwhelming as usual v Norwich... at 17:07 6 Apr 2024
From the euphoria of the Soton match, much like the aftermath of the Watford high(Leeds thrashing), we slump to defeat after a great performance. Of course Norwich play 100% only it seems against us we are Brazil, Real Madrid, Man City all rolled up in one when they play us. We were in city this morning avoided Bell and Murderers ended up in Wildman pub in city centre. Several other town fans in there but lacklustre performance made me glad wasn't at match. Afterwards city fans all smiles and buoyant atmosphere, this result makes their year! Saw a bloke insisting on being wheeled into pub to celebrate this great victory 'over the big team'. Another guy in pub said he would have called in sick tonight at work if they had lost, but now didnt care if p*ssed at work later. This fixture really is their cup final! If we dont get automatic bring on Budgies in play offs let's burst this Budgie Bubble once and for all, home and away wins or glorious Wembley victory. Let's put then to the sword asap. |

| Forum Thread | "Only our goalkeeper was sober" at 17:18 18 Feb 2024
Fulham beat Town 10-1 at Craven Cottage on Boxing Day 1963. It remains our heaviest defeat if 10-1 is worse than 9-0! Town were crowned League Champions the previous year. John Cobbold then Chairman, explained, "We were all suffering from Christmas Day hangovers and were still in party mood, only our goalkeeper was sober". Anyone remember the match? Was team inebriation obvious, did our goalie prevent a cricket score? Those were the days, owners and players enjoying a drink or two or three or more...cheers. |

| Forum Thread | National League teams anyone.. at 17:58 14 Feb 2024
Do you follow a team? I always look out for Boreham Wood, they punch above their weight with crowds of under a thousand but keep mid table. They have had many good FAC runs to. I expect many of us keep an eye on Chesterfield let's hope PC can get them into the EFL. |
