Nouble Leaves Club
Wednesday, 7th Jan 2015 12:17

Striker Frank Nouble’s Town contract has been cancelled by mutual consent. The 23-year-old has spent most of the first half of the season on loan at Coventry and now seems likely to join the Sky Blues on a permanent basis.

The former England U19 international joined the Blues for a fee of £25,000 from Wolves in January 2013 and scored five goals in 26 starts and 34 sub appearances. He last played for Town in the 1-1 draw at Derby in August when he came on as an 80th minute sub.

Nouble tweeted his goodbyes to all at Portman Road: "Like to thank all fans ,staff and players that I worked with at my time with Ipswich. Wish the boys luck this season on promotion chase."

Speaking after his loan with the Sky Blues came to an end at the weekend the striker, whose Town terms were due to end in the summer, said he was keen to return to the League One side having scored four goals in 12 starts and three sub appearances.

“I have already said to the manager that I want to stay so it’s up to the club now,” Nouble told the Coventry Telegraph.

The striker says manager Steven Pressley was impressed with his display in Saturday's 2-0 win at Walsall: “He just said that my performance was exactly what was needed.

“I have been out the side but he told me the last two games is the Nouble we know and love here, and I said I appreciated that and that I hope we can continue 2015 in those good spirits.

“It’s always good to hear the manager speaking well of you, particularly when you haven’t been playing for a few weeks.”

Pressley added: “In the last two games Frank has given great performances in that position — not just in possession but out of possession.”

“That’s always been the great concern because we are a team that focus on how to pressurise the game, what we expect from everybody when we haven’t got the ball.

“He’s shown me that he’s more than capable of doing that and that’s very pleasing because we all know what he brings to the table when he’s in possession.”

Yesterday, defender Freddie Veseli's contract was also cancelled by mutual consent with the former Swiss U21 international is expected to join his former loan club Port Vale.

Striker Paul Taylor and midfielder Anthony Wordsworth also returned from loan spells earlier in the week, both at Rotherham, and with the pair not in manager Mick McCarthy's plans also seem likely to have their contracts settled.

Been following his progress at Coventry closely through the local press. From what I've seen he's been enjoying his time there and doing pretty well at that level too.

Farewell Frank. I think some of us warmed to you in a way for your honest endeavour and always wanted to see you hit your best in an Ipswich shirt. But alas you probably haven't got what it takes to be part of what is now a promotion chasing Town squad at this stage of your career.

Best of luck, Monsieur Clack. :)

Good to see players like Nouble and Veseli happy to have their contracts cancelled and accept that Ipswich isn't the club for them. Just a pity that I can't see the likes of Taylor doing the same, honourable, thing.

Am I right in thinking that cancelling a contract by mutual consent is different to just paying them to leave?

That awful display at Crawley sealed his fate I'm afraid. Had a couple of decent games for us and was a likeable player even if short on ability. Good luck Frank hope it works out for you.

Good Luck big Frank, fond memories

Still think he is better than current forward options that we have on the bench should the unthinkable happen in the next 4 months

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear!!

More urgently when are we going to be rid of the useless, expensive to55er Taylor??

Good bye & good luck.

We trust in Mick & he sees fit to let you go, I reckon it is to (belatedly) compensate them for nicking McG.

Good luck Frank. Never really had great natural ability but he always gave his best and seemed a good character too. Wish him all the best in his career.

He was certainly a trier but sadly didn't have the ability. I always wanted him to do it but sadly not to be.

It didn't work out for him as he certainly lacks quality. We can't accuse him though if lack of effort.

What I badly wish for is that pest and tw*t in Taylor follows him. Taylor's departure is imperative.

At £25,000 he is our most exspensive player

uefacup81, cancelling by mutual consent is different because they agree on a compensation fee, where as if you cancel their contract normally then you pay there contract up in full.

i think taylor will be more resistant because he is on a decent weekly wage, and i think he will be happy to see the remainder out. Shame because it would be best for both parties to move as were not exactly rolling in it!

Can't really add much to what's already been said. Always put the effort in, but not quite at the standard we need ability wise. Good luck to him, hope he makes a go of it at his next club.

Sorry you never made it as a 1st team regular, it wasn't for the lack of trying on your part. Good luck with your future. I'm sure things will work out for you.

Good luck to him & hope he can make a career in football. I can't believe he made 50 appearances for the team & can't believe that MM saw him as a possible 1st.team player but there again MM did sign Sammon
