Swindon Boss Wilson Confirms Austin at Portman Road Holding Talks
Swindon Boss Wilson Confirms Austin at Portman Road Holding Talks
Thursday, 27th Jan 2011 16:32

Swindon boss Danny Wilson has confirmed that Robins striker Charlie Austin has been at Portman Road today holding talks with the Blues, as reported by TWTD earlier this afternoon. Town and the Wiltshire club have agreed a fee for the 21-year-old believed to be somewhere between £1.5 million and £2 million, including the usual appearance and achievement clauses.

Wilson said: "We've had a bid accepted from them and we've given Charlie permission to talk to Ipswich. What the outcome at this moment in time is I don't know. He's down there at the moment.

"It could be an all day job, it could be tomorrow, it might not happen at all and in a selfish way I hope it doesn't.

"But I can't really see that happening. Particularly now with the transfer window closing, clubs are now looking to get the player they've been tracking for most of the season.

"If Charlie does go, then we'll wish him all the best because he's exceeded everyone's expectations and has done fantastically well for us."

Blackpool are also believed to have made a bid, while Southampton and Burnley have been linked but Town are so far the only club whose offer has been accepted.

We understand Town have offered Austin a three-and-a-half-year contract at Portman Road.

Generally strikers can step up easier than other players. In any case he will add to our attack much needed goals.

@Matteo

Priskin is an absolutely quality player when he has quality service - something Bullard looks like he can provide. Believe me when I say he won't lose his place, he's on the up.

YouTube Priskin at Watford and watch how many goals come from the midfield.

isn't that what we said when his mate Royle bought Sam Parkin from Swindon, scoring in the 3rd division is much easier

I seem to remember mentioning him at the start of the transfer window, but got negative feedback on this site. Ah well,

It does show a much more poitive approach to the job - RK would never have signed hirm of bullard.

The Daily Mail with all their "quality journalism" have reported that a three and a half year deal has been agreed.

Mr Jewell has already shown his intent by trying to secure the services of quality experience (Bullard) & up and coming young talent in Austin and Drury. It is nice to see that he also looks farther afield than Sunderland cast offs, Eircom league players & those who have "character". I,m feeling much more optomistic about the future of our wonderful football club.

Great news this but I don't trust that Clegg will be able to do a deal, he hasn't had much succes in the past has he? If we fail to sign him Clegg should walk.

Look at Swindon's league position, sign of a good goal-scorer = can score in an average team. Yes you can compare him to Rhodes but Huddersfield are flying and have a good team + manager. This bloke has huge potential but Blackpool would be a massive jump, just look at Jermaine Beckford.
