It's not like Town fans didn't travel in numbers either is it? I think there probably should be some reallocation of funding towards the home club but no more than 20% or so.

We've given that bloke the best part of £3m the last few years, and he's still bleating on.

I wonder if we will have to give more over when we move away from iFollow next season?

Or clubs could just refuse to give us the stream?

Well quite. Accrington should have statue of Paul Hurst outside their ground.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

His Twitter bio is all caps:

"WHENEVER OUR CLUB IS SHOWN EITHER LIVE OR HIGHLIGHTS I EXPECT A FAIR SHARE OF PROCEEDS NO MATTER WHAT THE EFL DO OR SAY AND I DONT CARE WHO IS WATCHING THE GAME"

We sold out our away ticket allocation. I would understand his argument more if it was cannibalising ticket sales, but it clearly didn't.

Bit rich that an owner of a club that averaged 220 away fans last season is talking about this. It's probably loss making for clubs to host and police their fans.

His fixation with us is a little odd, but goading him isn't a great look either. You'd think his crusade is with the Prem and the big boys but he seems to have limited himself to short term issues.

I kind of see his point, and can empathise. There was a time when gate receipts were shared between the two clubs, at a time when football was almost entirely funded by what came through the gate. That resulted in a more competitive and balanced environment, smaller clubs could challenge for trophies.
Stopping that was probably the first step on the road we are on now, where everything gets geared toward bigger clubs and maintaining them as bigger clubs, it's skewed so far the other way it's frightening and hasn't stopped yet.

There has to be some middle ground somewhere, football needs the depth and variety of lower leagues and smaller clubs to keep it what it is, otherwise we'll end up with prem 1 and Prem 2 and nothing else. Prem 1 will likely have a total of 4 possible winners.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Home team take on all of the costs of hosting, but don't get a share of the profits from away streamers. Thinks they should have a share whenever they are shown live.

No he thinks the home club should keep it all.

If he wanted to he could launch Stanley TV and sell rights not through EFL, but he won’t because they have no fans

I'd say the football league probably needs a militant owners of smaller clubs like this guy willing to come out to bat and big picture he may have a point. Not sure he's right on this one but i'd like to hear from a football finance, ethics and EFL rules boffin on the particulars though, spods please show yourselves

Surely they're going to make the same amount back from the return fixture? And what about their own fans who couldn't be there and bought iFollow passes?

Edit: Or do they not have an iFollow subscription service for Burton supporters?

Edit edit: Or Accrington. Penny just dropped he's not even the Burton owner. WTF??

Cake and eat it scenario

He wants to benefit from other clubs fan bases - why should he ?

I really don't get it - he really needs to look up higher the food chain and perhaps have more pops at the Premier League and Sky than our "windfall" ffs

A bit like us saying if we got Man City in the cup we should get half of the club shop sales, food and drink sales, car parking sales etc. from our game at their place because, regardless of who is spending that money, they wouldn’t be there if we didn’t send a team to play them. It’s utter nonsense

Perhaps he should go halves on our wage bill and cost base for the game as well. It's our investment into the club that's generating the demand for tickets and ifollow. If he's going to participate in the revenues it's only fair we share the costs that's driving those revenues...

People will say you're saying that as a big fish in a small pond, but honestly if we played Man United tomorrow at PR and 20,000 United fans in Asia tuned in, I really don't see the justifcation that we should be entitled to that revenue, regardless of who is hosting.

Pointless building a bigger stadium as they can;t fill the one they have

24th out of 24 - stands to reason why he's moaning really

He needs to look closer to home and get his own act sorted really
