Quite shocked to be honest.

To have seen him so recently on the tele talking so passionately about football to hear this today. One of the better pundits in my book. So sad.

RIP. His face was one of the first I used to see when waking up as a kid. Not as creepy as it sounds as I had England wallpaper on the walls.

Always seemed a gent and one of the good ones. Lovely player too.

Very sad.

He always seemed to be a very nice man and interesting to listen to.
A pretty good player too.

I had SKY Sports News on when the news came through and they got very emotional on there.

Mate used to work at Chelsea and had lots of dealings with Ray. He was NEVER anything other than unfailingly polite & courteous to everyone and always "dangerously well".

Horrible news.

Very sad. I remember going to Old Trafford in about 1975 for an England U/21 fixture with a Chelsea-supporting mate, who said Wilkins would be the man to watch.

He was streets ahead of any other player on the pitch.

If only Sir Bobby had signed him: we'd have picked up three league titles and the European Cup.

Edit - it was 1976 and his only appearance at U/21. He was in the senior squad thereafter.
