The aftermath of the horrendous missile attack from Derby Day rumbles on… 18:04 - Jan 5 with 4997 viewsSitfcB

…still. A whole 3 weeks afterwards. I’d forgotten about it to be honest.

Whoever sent the flowers needs their season ticket revoked.

'It's understood that a private acknowledgment of wrongdoing was made by figures behind the scenes at Ipswich after they were contacted by their counterparts, but no public apology or condemnation has been made. '

Have I missed something? Did ITFC throw the deadly beer can? Or did ITFC insist they drive in behind the ITFC coach? Or did ITFC (allegedly) suggest that they drive in a less than ideal manner amongst Town fans?

Maybe I've missed something, otherwise this just looks like a very whiny (winey?) whinge. Cringe.

Perhaps it's a transfer window deflection attempt?

It's at times like this I question myself whether the PinkUn is not just the Norfolk version of the SuffolkGazette

Are they genuinely questioning that ? Because my impression, and i was drinking in the pub so only have 2nd hand accounts to go by,sorry wasn't there, but there are plenty of Town fans who were with footage, that shows exactly how things unfolded.

Don't follow the f'in Ipswich coach into the ground really very simple. I want to see this statement and what role Suffolk Police had to play did they advise this was a safe course of action or had she been told to follow the Norwich team bus as that was the safest route to the ground.

Hardly a big attack, and where is the apology from the windbag and Michael for aggressive driving at Ipswich fans. Apologies work both ways!

No, they actually attacked Delia’s car with Starstreak Missiles, personally ordered by Ashton while he was ordering some extra bulbs for the floodlights. She was then hauled out of the car and subjected to several hours of listening to Jamie Oliver and Nigella recipes while a ITFC employee nabbed 32 bottles of Sherry from the back of the car. Boooo! Poor Delia.

Actually, they’ve not explained why they were there. They didn’t have to be. The blue smoke visible from the top of Sir Alf Ramsey Way was a bit of a clue. Maybe they should apologise for poking their oversized BMW into something that was not organised for their benefit.

That photo reminds of of poor little Hugo and Jemima (or whatever middle class names they had) looking sad at Jimmy’s Farm because the ground they camped on was a bit hard.

They are only sad because the can was empty. Got their hopes up and then cruelly dashed them.

It was utter stupidity on there part driven by pure arrogance and naivity to be driving through a crowd of 100's of your fierce rivals fan base. Shows their level of intelligence that they didnt wait a while for the crowds to disperse than follow the itfc players into the stadium. Would karen brady risk driving through a similar gathering of millwall fans?

Paddy Davitt seems a humourless ignoramus as witnessed by his comments after the derby game, referring to McKenna's post match summary as 'salty'
In contrast, we are fortunate to have Stuart Watson in a similar role.

Bottle of gin might be more appropriate. Can you make sure it arrives around 9.30 in the morning? She’ll like that.

Reading between the lines, Delia was offered the chance to follow the Norwich coach in but declined it and recklessly followed the Ipswich coach instead. In other words, she deliberately avoided a safe route and took one where fans were bound to react. And if that’s right, there’s no reason for any apology, public or otherwise. She should, and I believe did know better.

From Phil's story:

'It’s understood Smith and Wynn-Jones had been given the opportunity to follow the Norwich team coach, which was given a police escort and entered the stadium via the old Staples site at the opposite end of the ground, however, instead opted to make their own way to the game.'

Sounds like they're just a couple of octogenarian troublemakers then, but I don't think they need to apologise for it. Honest mistake, no doubt.

"Delia and Michael would like to thank all the Ipswich Town supporters who are still sending messages of support, and even flowers, after the event to apologise for what took place at the derby match on Saturday, 16th December."

AFTER THE EVENT TO APOLOGISE FOR.

That's very strange wording, why do they not say what the event was, perhaps because that might mean mentioning the fact that the car was behind the ITFC bus during a pre-arranged greeting and therefore exposing the *LIE* that the Norfolk Media put out about the ITFC fans surrounding her car behind the NORWICH bus?

You know what the real disgusting thing is here? For the Norfolk Media to put out a false narrative claiming our fans surrounded their car following the Norwich bus to blacken the name of our fans based on an inaccurate story and now for Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones to put out a statement like that out when they could have set the record straight about but instead are trying to piggy back on a false narrative to criticise our fans for their own PR gain.

SCUM indeed and the club should not apologise to them, even more so after this.

But the lack of the club saying something like this in a statement is just allowing the trash media following NCFC to make things up and make us look bad as a clan and set of fans.

The club can make a simple statement along the lines of whats in Phil's article and then the world can infer from that she had a safe route offered which she declined.

The total one sided reporting and lack of reference to aggressive driving doesn't in any way paint an accurate picture of what caused the rise in tensions.

This has to be a joke. Didn't Phil/Gav say the club warned them about the coach welcome and the police offered them a chance to drive in behind the Norwich coach round the other side of the stadium?

Sit there and let the cobwebs cover you waiting for the apology.

Did the Norfolk media actually say the car was behind the NCFC bus in the face of the photographic evidence to the contrary??? Is so, that's positively Trumpian and quite disgusting if they didn't correct themselves afterwards.

It was all over the PinkUn and the associated media that they were following the Norwich Bus and that was picked up by the national media as well.

The PinkUn has since corrected their articles but they were not changed until days after the original copy was written and by that point the false account was written in many national outlets.

In that case I wouldn't have expected the OinkUn to go around the nationals asking them to correct their stories (that would be silly and over the top, and we don't need that), but they really ought to have included a line in their current story like '...as Delia's car followed the Ipswich team coach into the stadium'.

Even if they can't summon up the decency and the good grace to directly apologise for the original error, the least they could have done is ensure the truth of the matter was clear this time around.

Perhaps they feel they need something to distract them from football or the transfer window?
