League Position 17:17 - Jul 10 with 3820 viewsTractor_Boy_Tommy

Right everyone I know we may have a few new players coming in and going out but realistically where abouts do you think we will finish in the league come the end of the season I would say between 8th and 10th

League position will be governed by how well other teams do this season; going on the mantra of last season (prepare as well as possible for each game at a time, and see where that gets us), I think we'll reach at least 70 points - would have been enough for 5th place last season, but think that will require more points this year.

16th-18th on current squad. Boy do we need a couple of strikers then, maybe rethink positions.

10th - 12th depending on signings

I think about 10th-15th. I think the level we got to last season was as good as mid table Championship sides and if all we did was reassemble that squad we'd be competitive.

Get a good run at it in terms of injuries and a few signings a level above what we have and it'll be more like 6th-10th.

I’m going top 2, on the fact I still expect 4 or 5 quality additions added from this point.

Right now anywhere from 18th-12th.

Squad needs more quality.

Somewhere between 12th and 8th.

But wouldn’t be surprised if we find it more difficult than we think and we find our level around our beloved 15th.

As things stand at the moment, I think we won't lose many games but draw quite a few 12th.

Get a couple strikers and a centre back 6th spot.

If we were to get Hirst and Rak-Sakyi in and end our business there I would be a little worried, because essentially we’d have enhanced a team that was excellent in League One with a couple of players who were excellent in League One. I have no idea how big the step up to the Championship will be, although to be fair we, and fans from other teams, were saying that the team we had last season was capable of competing towards the top of the Championship so who knows.

As it stands today

Aim higher but realistically

High 8th
Low 16th

I currently feel our best known starting XI is about 12th as it stands; to put that into context that was Preston on c63 points last season. 55-65 points should be getable. With a season under their belts you would hope they kick on more.

My current concern is the drop in performance standards for those backing things up the high intensive roles, Eg Clarke to Donacien, Burns to Jackson, Broadhead to Edwards, Chaplin to Aluko, Ladapo to no one. Davis to Leigh is less concern for sharing minutes as is central midfield.

In the Championship, playing at higher intensity, rotation and 9 subs will be key. We can’t afford this kind of drop off at 60 minutes against top 10 teams if we want to break into that group. I’m not promoting squad players either, we need to replace better but that could be a challenge for a new side in the division this season. Next season we won’t be new kids on the block, next summer we could be putting final pieces in place for a top 6 finish.

I think people underestimate a) the ability we have and b) how well organised and well coached we are. The standards we demonstrated last season were frighteningly high compared to what we’ve seen in years and years. I feel like those who flippantly say ‘yeah but it was League 1’ don’t really get it.

That’s not to say we don’t need 2 or 3 additions, but it’s never as straight forward as ‘he’s a league 1 player, he’s a championship player’. It doesn’t work like that. As a unit our passages of play are very well equipped for the higher level. I will be very surprised if we’re not in the top half at least.
