Them lot up the road are about to break their transfer record signing a Brazilian lad for £11.5m

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/under-fire-norwich-director-flies-2

Now, there could be a huge number of player leaving which could go some way to fund that fee (if it is to be believed) but they had a huge outlay last summer, which I’m sure they’re staying for so seems a brave move.. or a huge throw of the dice in the hope of landing a double six.. though clearly I don’t know the detailed breakdown of their finances

I also note that Webber flew to Brazil to get the move done.. if it falls through then their fans will have another stick to beat him with

Good. Their record on big money signings is not good.

Truly impaired.

Good to see Smith going the same route as he did at villa with big spends..
Hopefully tho this ends badly for them as they are 1 non promotion away from problems.

Waka waka eh eh

Not that wild in terms of a parachute club's transfer business really. The initial £9m doesn't even make the Top 20 biggest transfers for the division.

Brazilians are very hit and miss at adapting in this country as well. I'd say there's been far more Brazilian flops than hits.

And I can't imagine second tier English football, after São Paulo, will be fun for long.

The best thing about that article is the mention of his dreams of climbing Mount Everest and the fans being upset about it. All very Alan Partridge.

"Sara, who has had an ankle injury..."

Wouldn't half be funny if they broke their transfer record on a sicknote!

What I find odd is that they spend more money to try and get up rather than stay up. As someone else has already said their track record when spending comparatively large sums of money is shocking

I’m confused. They spend fk all when in the prem, fail to stay up.
Then wack £12m on a player when in the championship…

Probably end up selling for £50m in two years tho

Or perhaps 1 or 2 big sales on the horizon..

There's a logic to spending now but not in the PL. They couldn't compete financially in the PL and could easily have spent well over their means and still failed, landing themselves in a right old pickle. In the Championship they have a financial advantage over most (certainly during the first two years of parachute payments). There's far less risk involved.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Yeah true, or it may just be a case of availability of players / waiting for the ones you want.

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

NEVER have I enjoyed watching a hyped up Norwich player as much as this one

What worries is they might have the next Raphina on their hands but I hope it's more the new Job.

Hopefully he'll decide norfolk is too flay, too boring and demand a move to Spain, then get an injury that keeps him out for 18 months making him unsellable

Raphinia came from French league. Who knows how this lad will turn out.

I suspect they'll sell one or 2 to fund the deal

Does make you wonder if they can pay this as a championship club , how are our super rich owners not being a bit more adventurous with the quality they are signing

I imagine if we were in the Chmapionship, having a guaranteed £90m over three years they’d be a bit more adventurous. Think they’ve got the signings right this year and clearly a couple more exciting ones to come. Really no excuses this year, settled squad, good pre season etc.

Apparently them lot have spent £5m in Brazilian soccer schools and scouting. I would expect more South American players very soon. Apparently some loop hole in getting them over since brexit.
I can’t remember what it was
