Fair play to Marcus Evans 12:33 - Nov 2 with 4868 viewsitfcjoe

Just bumped into one of the 1st team, they are heading up to Sunderland shortly with an overnight stay ahead of the game tomorrow.

No doubt a decent sized expense with no room sharing allowed, and gives us a much better chance than having an early start and 6 hours oj the coach tomorrow

Great stuff. Really hope we take the game to them and go for the three points.

An overnight stay in Sunderland is probably punishment for the lacklustre display versus Crewe.

I can't imagine travelling on the day of a game all the way to Sunderland and being expected to play football at that level. Did we do that for Doncaster? Not ideal prep at all. Pleased to hear we have a stay over tonight.

Don't know re Doncaster, but know we went day of the game to Lincoln.

Appreciate Lincoln is closer, but I saw the buses headed to training ground at about 9:45 which hardly seems ideal assuming it is a decent 3 hour trip on coach

It's about doing things in a professional way and preparing correctly for this huge game. ME has done his bit stumping up the cash for this overnighter, now it's over to PL and the players to start delivering in these types of matches, games which will define our season.

Anyone ITK, I'm curious, what do we do during the day tomorrow? Will we have hired out a local footy pitch for a bit of light training or something similar?

I remember being in the cafe at the Holiday Inn on London Road before the P'boro game last season, Posh had stayed there the night before and they were all just hanging around before going on a slow walk along London Road. I thought it didn't look like very good preparation, then they went and smashed us 1-4.

I'm now picturing them walking alongside a stream, picking flowers and pointing out squirrels to each other.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I bet he got a job lot of tents in the Millets sale heads for the local park if they have one, pitch them on the dogs toilet (who can forget that episode in Bottom), a couple of packets of Aldi chocolate breads for brekkers (mmmm), a flask of lukewarm tea and they’ll be raring to go. All for £100, jobs a good un.

D'you know what, that might toughen them up a bit! Footballers are too pampered these days.

I stayed in the same hotel as the squad last year at Reading. After breakfast they all went for a walk along the river, as I did. No squirrels but very pleasant

It's a brutal trip by coach to do in a day and back, so makes total sense. If it means we take points off a promotion rival it's a very frugal investment isn't it?

Bet Marcus is already rubbing his hands at ST renewals if we go up. People will be desperate to see live football this time next year.
