Took a few people in corporate today, sat below the Villa fans. I have to say with all the bickering and arguing today, I’m so proud of our fans today. I’m a season ticket holder in SBRL and even sitting below their fans, throughout the whole game all we could hear was Ipswich. 4-0 down and our fans singing their hearts out, the Villa fans we were with have just left us stating how impressed they are with our fans for getting behind the boys despite the score line.

Even when Folami knocked the ball out of play by a heavy touch, you could see the whole of the SBR stand get to their feet and applaud his effort for trying to beat a man and be positive thinking.

Despite all the bickering, disagreements; I’m such a proud Ipswich fan going home this evening.

I think that those final minutes of continuous singing were scenes not so frequently found anywhere and that it tells the "be careful what....." mob something, especially those dozen-a-dime pundits. It said to me, "we've got our club back", and that's something you can't get a handle on unless you've been here in the pit of dulness and despair.

To me, (I hope) it was a ‘As fans we’ve disagreed, we’ve seen good, bad times, argued, fought and bickered amongst ourselves; but now we can all be one again and support our beloved club’.

Pity those same people didn’t support the team, regardless of manager, when there was something at stake earlier in the year, rather than leave it till we were 4-0 down in a meaningless match

There is an element of 'support the team' but on the flip side you can't just fake enjoyment.

So you don’t think that kind of support might have tipped the scales in our way earlier in the season in games that finished 0-0.

I didn't go. The point is no one has enjoyed it for 3 seasons and now something has been done about it. That's the reason for such positivity.

You're right.

But there are only so many times you can see a potential attack stalled by one of our own players trapping the ball, turning their back to the goal we are attacking before playing it backwards and still maintain enthusiasm.

You might be right. But then the manager stated clearly if we were to sing for a player, he would probably not bring him on. It wasn’t often that we were singing for defensive midfielders, but that manager seemed to find a place for them.

The rest of this season is meaningless. The future could be bright. The fans were singing to tell the players we still love this club. In fact I love it a little more than I did earlier in the season, as I feel there is hope going forward. I haven’t felt like that for maybe two anD a half years. Maybe a little less, but it’s it just feels like longer.

Mick wasn’t a bad man. In fact he was a good man, who had done his best work some time ago. Bu5 he is not the club. Nor is anybody. The club is more than any one or anything. I support the club.

Think you’re missing the point. The amount of negativity, and awful few months as a club we’ve had; something’s finally been done about it and it’s time to move on.

Stop trying to find a negative in absolutely everything.

It’s not being negative to have wished our supporters could have risen above the negativity of the Manager and just supported the team during matches. I absolutely detested Roy Keene, never ever wanted him anywhere near this club, but it didn’t stop me going to every game and supporting the team.

Did you sing your heart out today , have you been singing your heart out all season or do you think its just others who should be doing that? I did not enjoy the result today but the support made the defeat a bit easier to take IMO.

Good post. The atmosphere is the responsibility of all fans to provide, if they so wish.

And yes I did!

I've just got back home from the game and was going to start a new thread about the excellent noise coming from our lot, but saw your thread and couldn't agree more!

I was sat right at the front, lower SBR, and the singing, chanting coming from all around the stand sounded magnificent - sounds like it carried well too.

Terrible result, but great afternoon, sitting in the sunshine watching my football team, and a beautiful drive back to dreary Norfok through the Suffolk countryside to boot.

No that was the job of the manager to instruct the players to do so you idiot, you obviously didnt witness the ineptitude of the displays against Burton and Sheff Utd to name but 2

So you think the support plays no part - very weird. Why do fans cheer and sing then if it’s all to no avail. And for your information I did go to those two games - they were precisely the games i was thinking of where maybe, just maybe, decent support might just have made the difference in two inept performances.

I witnessed a lot of crap over the years, but today's support was nothing to do with the game. We were very poor as a team, but It felt like the support was a message to the owner to show that we care if only we can be given something to get behind. Im not expecting a championship winning team ( although that would be nice), but just something to build on.
