How can we stop Mark Murphy
at 16:14 21 Feb 2024

Rotherham striker "Huggle" going off in the second half was a particular highlight.

Is it wishful thinking hoping some key players get poached from our rivals?
at 11:46 10 Jan 2024

I think this is entirely possible.

So many prem teams have injury crises right now that their hands may be forced. For example, out of no where West Ham are looking at Jack Clarke now that Paqueta and Bowen have joined Antonio on the injury list.

Our best chance was in the very first minute. The Humphreys shot from the corner. It was nestling right in the bottom corner before the keeper somehow got down to it in time.

But as soon as this and the Burgess chance didn't go in, you just knew it was going to be 0-0.

Think you might have tuned in late. We should have gone two up in the first two minutes.

Has anyone managed to get anywhere with their admin regarding getting refunds for Saturday?

I've been told that, as the video worked on some apple devices, and that I could at least get audio on my laptop, I was provided an adequate service apparently!

MK Dons tickets on sale to GCs this morning.....
at 10:34 30 Jan 2023

I think a lot of people are over-thinking the location of their seats. The stadium is incredible and all seats have an excellent view.

And, more importantly, no one sat in their allocated seat last year anyway. It was simply a case of the earlier you got there, the more central in the away end you were.

I agree with the OP and am not concerned about our form against top teams any more.

Bolton: we win if Morsy scores his tap-in at the death (which he scores 9 times out of 10).

Barnsley: we win if the officials don't make a terrible decision.

Sheff Wed: we win if the officials don't make several terrible decisions.

Plymouth: the best team we've played, by a mile, and we created more than enough chances to win.

As has been pointed out a couple of times above, the main difference is the manner of these draws/defeats. We could and should have won three of them and Plymouth couldn't have complained too much if we'd snuck three points on Sunday (although Morsy should have seen red). In the previous three seasons down at this level we've barely laid a finger on the top 6 when playing them.

No confidence vote IMMINENT
at 13:16 6 Jun 2022

The other enormous elephant in the room for Labour is the SNP's rise in the last decade.

Without the Scottish vote, it will always be extremely hard for Labour to win a majority. They'd need to either defeat the SNP in Scotland once again, or form a very unlikely alliance with them...

We are favourites to win L1
at 09:26 23 May 2022

There is also the fact that, since the moment McKenna took over, pretty much every opposing manager said we were the best team they'd faced all season.

Soundbites like that doesn't go unnoticed outside of our internal ITFC bubble after a while.

iFollow 22/23
at 10:42 3 May 2022

Hi all - do we know yet whether our games will still be streamed on iFollow next season? I heard rumblings of us moving to a new platform but have no idea who or when that's supposedly happening.

I need to decide soon whether to cancel my annual iFollow pass.

Burgess will do just fine covering for Edmundson....
at 13:14 9 Mar 2022

Fully agree with all that.

'Irreplaceable' is exactly the word for Morsy. I expect if you asked all 24 managers in the league to pick their dream XI from any team in L1, he'd be in most of them. He's a Championship top-10 midfielder.

Edmundson is an excellent player but, as mentioned above, Woolf and Donacien have been better in the last few months. I believe in Burgess.

Players of the season so far....
at 13:53 17 Feb 2022

I think Donacien will win POTS by a mile.

Only Walton and Morsy come close to him in terms of consistency but Janoi is a massive fan-favourite with his hero to zero to hero story and he's wildly regarded as a really nice guy which always helps. Woolfy could also come into the argument for the same zero to hero nostalgia reason but he hardly played for the first half of the season.

Burns, Bonne and Chaplin have been our most influential players in specific games but have gone missing in several others. I'm a huge fan of Edmundson who was doing very well but in recent months he suddenly seems to have a guaranteed big mistake or two in him per match.

Harper’s failure to square the ball to Bonne in the last minute

On replay Bonne looked like he could have been in an offside position.

Having said that, I doubt Harper realised that and so still took the selfish decision.

There's a lot of comparing apples to oranges here.

Of course 90% of goals conceded have a defensive error somewhere.

But I'm talking about the howlers from Woolfenden and Evans (literally directly assisting goals to the opposition) and Bonne missing an open goal from less than a metre out. Those three incidents are very different to poor defensive positioning or a missed header etc...

First things first: the Bolton game was an abomination. The second half capitulation in particular was a disgrace.

But in the matches before that, we've dropped 8 points due to individual errors, not from absolutely woeful team performances:

Morecambe - Woolfenden howler (2 points dropped)
Burton - Fraser misses a penalty and then we give away a late penalty (3 points dropped)
Cheltenham - Bonne misses from 1 inch out to go 2-0 up (1 point dropped)
MK Dons - Evans howler (2 points dropped)

I would even argue in the Bolton game that, if KVY doesn't make a ridiculous challenge for their penalty and Bonne doesn't miss the target when unmarked from 10 yards out just before half-time, we go in 3-1 up rather than 2-3 down.

Of course we haven't gelled as quickly as we all hoped, and the midfield pair in particular need to learn their roles fast. But individual errors like the ones I've mentioned have nothing to do with a new team not gelling. Without these individual errors, we'd be on 11 points and just outside the play-off spots.

Freedom Day then.....
at 10:35 19 Jul 2021

I took a train to Newmarket on Friday evening and came back yesterday. On both journeys there were substantially more people not wearing masks than wearing them.

Yesterday there were about 20 people on my carriage and only 5 or 6 of us were wearing a mask. Initially the ticket officer was politely reminding people that the new rules don't start until tomorrow but he soon gave up as no one cared. There were also constant passive-aggressive glances from mask wearer to non-mask wearer and back again.

I think it's very clear where this is all going. Wearing or not wearing a mask will become a status symbol and add to the already polarised society we've developed in the last five years.
