McCarthy Expects to Confirm Signing Today
Monday, 1st Aug 2016 09:47

Town boss Mick McCarthy has said he is expecting to confirm a new signing today.

Speaking to ex-Blues striker Alan Brazil on talkSPORT this morning, the Town manager said he “expects to confirm one signing today and hopefully we will get more”. TWTD reported yesterday that Town are close to completing a deal with another potential move under discussion.

McCarthy is most keen to add wingers to his squad ahead of next Saturday’s first Championship game of the season at home to Barnsley with former Swansea and Ferencváros wideman Roland Lamah having been on trial for the last week.

As reported yesterday, we understand Crystal Palace youngster Sullay Kaikai is also very much on Town’s radar.

Finally some good sounding news. It looks like things might be coming together at last.

Oh, Lamah...

As long as signing Shelia (or Sheila) from Arsenal doesn't affect Janet's role at Portman Road, dealing with new supporter applications, then I don't see that as a problem, paulcooperisgod.

I'd imagine it'll be Lamah on a years deal. Not seen him play, so my view on his ability is worthless. Fingers crossed he turns out to be a good signing.

In keeping with all the Ipswich Boo-boys, Mick has just signed Christiano Ronaldo as our fourth choice keeper...

IMWT!

More than likely that it is Lamah, a good and sensible move if so. Apparently that Spanish youngster we have had on trial has impressed (Celestino?) so could be him tomorrow. All good news.

If Lamah are signs I suggest we call him Mark!

Read an article that it won't be Lamah just yet, due to a work permit. Hopefully KaiKai or someone out of the blue that will bang him 50+ a season wouldn't be too bad!!

How old is Brian Cant these days?

Prepare yourselves for the arrival of an unheard of 16 year old midfielder from the Brighton youth set-up, yet to make a senior appearance, but with the potential of changing position to become a promising goalkeeper.....

"someone out of the blue that will bang him 50+ a season wouldn't be too bad!!"

...but you'd still get people moaning about that, no doubt.

I like the almost negative sounding "...wouldn't be too bad" bit. Could you go as far as '...might be quite good'?

@Gilesy - Brian Cant is only any good when he plays away.

Sorry but i hope it's someone just a bit better than Lamah!

Will be very surprised if it is MCCormack. He knows we've wanted him for many years though so perhaps now is the time. Unfortunately money talks and he's more likely to sign for our noisy neighbours up the road. We can live in hope!

Brian Cant is a bit old and unlikely to sign.

Maitland-Niles or Lamah is my bet. Hopefully end up with better than both before the season starts though.
