Striker
at 14:08 26 Oct 2023

I reckon in January we'll bring in a top-top striker on loan (with a view to signing permanently if we make the Prem).

Just a thought...
at 14:11 11 Oct 2023

We're in a great position - 8 points clear of third currently - way above where we ever imagined we'd be.

But realistically, what did we all hope for this season? Top half? Part of me always believed 6th was always achievable, but realistically I'd probably have said about 8th.

Well... hear me out! To finish 8th last season was 68 points...

That's an average of 1.48 points per game.

So what if we were now just to average 1.48 points per game from our remaining 35 games? That would mean 52 more points.

Add that to the 28 we currently have and you'd be looking at a final total of: 80 points.

Last season, that would have been enough to finish third, and at no point in the last decade would that have seen us fail to make the play-offs.

But who is the most likely to catch us? Leeds? Sunderland? Southampton?

Assuming we made it to 80 points, to catch us, they'd have to average the following points:

Leeds - 1.74
Sunderland - 1.74
Southampton - 1.80

All in all, not only do we need to have a huge drop off to finish outside the top two, but those teams need to seriously up their game.

Will both those variables happen? Who knows?

I really fancy us for top two.

Player Values
at 09:58 31 Jul 2023

Seen some interesting discussion on Twitter since the Walton to Luton link surfaced, with some wild variation quoted on Walton's value.

I've seen everything from Luton fans saying he's not worth even £3m, through to some slightly more optimistic Ipswich fans pricing him up at £20m! The reality is somewhere in between, obviously, but I can't help but think that if we were to sell any of our key assets, it certainly would be for a massively inflated fee.

The fact is, we don't need to sell. Our owners aren't looking to start seeing a return on their investment for at least a couple more years yet, and they know the serious money is in the Premier League. So, whilst an asset like Walton may very well have been let go for a quick buck under Marcus Evans - perhaps £4-5m - I honestly can't see us entertaining a penny less than £10m - maybe more.

Maybe Walton isn't quite that level, but his value to us right here, right now, is significant. He's a key component of this team, so why would we sell? Same rule will apply to the likes of Chaplin, Broadhead, Morsy, Woolfenden, etc... it would have to be silly money, surely, for us to even pick up the phone.

F&@$ Off Ipswich Council!!!
at 09:13 9 May 2023

Such a shame that the council ruined what could have been a really lovely event by sticking parking tickets on every car within half a mile of the park.

Yesterday was meant to be a time of celebration. It was a couple of hours. Turn a blind eye FFS.

No wonder the town centre is dying when braindead bureaucrats trample on any attempt to get people out into the town by issuing parking fines and/or charging extortionate amounts for official parking.

But not only that... absolutely no refreshment stands, alcohol banned, and over-enthusiastic stewards clamping down on the "no flare" ruling.

Typical council bulls***!

I pity Mark Ashton having to deal with these absolute jobsworths when trying to get planning permission for any development to our stadium.

I hope that new Cobbold Stand is going to be massive!

Keep going the way things are and 29,000 is just not big enough. When successful, this club would have no trouble filling 40-45,000.

Leif Davis fee...
at 16:31 26 Jul 2022

Can we stop obsessing over the fact that we've signed a left-back for £1m?

It might see like a lot of money, but lets remember, what our RB contributed last season: 13 goals, 6 assists, 17 clean sheets, ITFC player of the season, L1 team of the year...

Is that worth £1m+ ? Of course it is!

I'm not saying Davis is going to come in and achieve all that, but we've been looking for someone to play on the left-side that can operate at the same level as what we've become accustomed to down the right.

The role of a full-back has changed in the modern game. It's one of the most important positions on the pitch.

If Davis achieves what McKenna hopes for him to, we'll be looking at £1m as an absolute bargain.

I spoke to Celina's dad.
at 11:16 5 Jul 2022

I asked him if there were any truth in rumours linking us with Celina. This is the transcript of our conversation:

Me: Will he be signing for Ipswich?

EC: I hope so! Dijon is being difficult. Will be okay I think.

Me: Over the transfer fee?

EC: I don't know, but the agents are talking.

Me: I guess it's all part of the negotiations process... it would be good for him to be able to get started with his pre-season.

EC: He's waiting at home, speaking to coach (McKenna) almost daily.

Me: Must be so frustrating!

EC: Yes!

The Cashless Debate
at 10:19 29 Jun 2022

Ipswich Town Football Club's decision to move towards a "cashless" Portman Road next season has proved to be a more controversial topic than first expected, not only on the TWTD Forum and comments section, but also across social media and in conversations between fans.

Joe Pigott

I'm not prepared to write him off yet. He's the kind of big physical striker that normally gets you out of this division, and I also think he's a confidence player. If McKenna can get into him and he has a decent pre-season, I still think he's as good as anything else we're going to find at this level.

Shameless plug.... (sorry)!
at 11:34 24 Sep 2021

Hi everyone... in just over a week's time, I'm running the London Marathon.

I'll be running on a charity place in aid of a charity very close to my heart, Retina UK.

The charity supports all people in the UK living with inherited sight-loss, from conditions such as Retinitis Pigmentosa, Stargardt Disease and Usher Syndrome. Currently, around 25,000 people are affected.

The money raised will not only help to support individuals suffering from sight-loss and blindness, but will also enable pioneering research to continue, that will hopefully one day find a cure for many of these conditions.

I'd be grateful if you could find it within your hearts to pledge whatever you can at my fundraising page: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/WilliamTaylorLondonMarathon/3

Thank you!
