We are incredibly excited to announce that the one and only @EltonOfficial will headline the Pyramid Stage on Sunday night at Glastonbury 2023, for what will be the final UK show of his last ever tour. pic.twitter.com/tpylanY1Rh
When he was at Portman Road, which was probably 5 years ago, at one point he got up and walked across the stage and he just looked so, so old and as though he needed a zimmer frame almost.
Amazed he is still physically able to tour, good luck to him though as still got a very good voice

How many times has he done Portman Rd?
I saw him at PR in 2004, so he must have played here at least twice?

Looks like a decent line-up for 2023, although weird to see Metallica doing two days.
You boys should check out my recent radio show if you like the heavy stuff!
Download has some decent stuff in it, but equally I find myself either loving or hating modern metal music, in that I think some is amazing, but lots is bloody dreadful. But there is barely any more amazing sound than crushingly heavy rock music played on a massive rig.
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Yeah twice.
Would be interesting to see a list of attendances for Portman Road concerts. Assume Elton, Tina Turner, and REM would be around the top. Barry Manilow at the bottom

Red Hot Chili Peppers were a sellout
Highlighting crass stupidity since sometime around 2010

Similar to you, I find modern metal in a weird place. The mainstream has some awful dreck, being mostly metalcore derived shouty nonsense with no artistry to it but the fringes has some glorious stuff going on.
I've been delighted with the recent upsurge in new bands playing old-skool thrash and death. I heartily recommend Power Trip, Heads For The Dead and(if you're feeling a bit more adventurous) Cryptic Shift and Blood Incantation.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
