Hard to feel sympathy for them now as they are so blinked my Brexit. That 31% unemployment rate, do they really think thats going to get any better under Brexit??

Even more remarkable on 00:35 - Dec 13 with 1422 views | clive_baker | Quite literally, unbelievable. Where is he getting his stats from? Unemployment is 5% according to democratic dashboard. Either way, as has been said for an area that voted overwhelmingly to leave the EU, it’s not a great surprise they backed the only major party with a clear leave stance.

Even more remarkable on 00:36 - Dec 13 with 1420 views | tractordownsouth | 31% unemployment doesn't even cover the working poor. 60% of people who are in poverty have a job - under Labour this figure was roughly half that size.

I'd go along with that. People are struggling and no one internal is listening so they'll look for an external blame. In this case that would be people coming over from other nations and taking what they feel should be rightfully theirs. It's not an unrealistic stance to take when no one is listening. It is of course a government issue and not a foreigner one, but some people really are in a desperate situation so will grasp at anything. [Post edited 13 Dec 2019 0:45]

I think those are partly the reasons for the 2016 result, yes. For tonight's results there is a sense that, for leavers and some remainers, democracy has not been served. There are Labour Leave voters turning to Conservative but i would not expect many Conservative Remain voters turning to Labour. Having said that Corbyn should still resign and it's not all because of a Brexit election he couldn't win, as I think his 40% last time is his peak and I am expecting a Labour drop in remain constituencies too, but with a much lower swing.

It's a real tricky one isn't it. So many factors crossing and intercrossing. I wonder what an honest zen diagram would look like right now. [Post edited 13 Dec 2019 1:03]

This site is still full of unhinged left wingers I see. Absolutely fantastic that the majority of people have seen through the politics of envy and anti Semitism and given you lot the cold shoulder for good.

I think we, well certainly I, lost sight of it being so much about Brexit as the campaign wore on and we focussed on Boris, the NHS, anti-semitism, japes with fridges and ice sculptures etc, and this is natural because it's not a referendum it is a General Election. But the British public saw it, as SKY called it, the Brexit election, in my humble opinion.

Still talking nonsense. Most people in this country will never experience real poverty in any shape or form.

Not really, lots of the same people posting and reading each other's posts isn't particularly lucrative. I went to bed at about 10.40.
