Alexander Mitrovic wages at Fulham are more than Barnsley's whole squad combined.

And the likes of D*rby, Forest and QPR, spunking cash willy-nilly.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

QPR's days of crazy spending are long gone.

They have had to half their playing budget 2 or 3 summers in a row.

Why is a club that was struggling to survive in The Championship and indeed, finished bottom, finding itself top of League One?

Which may well go some way to answering the first question, perhaps?

Based on our season so far, because they've forgotten how to play against good sides. Especially ones who can snuff them out in attack and punish them by taking chances.

That's why I really hope we're hitting our stride, upping our level and probably having a clearer idea of our first XI before the end of the season.

If we're just going to end up as strugglers next year then the last two years will have been an almighty waste of time and money.

Charlton were top 2-3 a few weeks ago. Drilling fine in 11th.

Luton had back to back so.always a struggle and Barnsley weirdly sold and weakened their squad.

Shef Utd and Huddersfield in recent years have come up and done well etc. We would have better resources then the teams that went up last year.

League 1 is a decent drop in.standard though. You need some momentum.

Poll: Genuine answers please on what you would choose next season!

I’m pretty sure without a decent investment in the squad we will struggle again if we go back up we would want three defenders two centre halfs, two more striker ,and maybe one or two midfielders we have some decent midfielders but will need to unload some dead wood that’s how I see it.
Maybe buy Norris on the cheap but the rest is going to cost Evans he will need to invest if we want to stay in the championship IF we go up.

The same reason we were relegated after so many years - you need big gates and big funds to compete in that league now, the rest are just waiting their turn to drop down and yo-yo back up, which will sadly be our fate as it's clear Evans cannot afford to compete with the other clubs financially.

Because https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50418776

the money being spent in the Champ is stupid.

Ignoring whether or not they were actually "within the rules", who makes a profitability and sustainability rule that says that selling your biggest tangible asset is good for sustainability?

One of the other problems in the Championship is that many of the relegated Prem clubs don't go straight back up so if that happens over 3 seasons for example you have a large percentage of clubs that can out spend the rest.
It's time to change and have NO parachute payments (lets face it the relegated teams get loads just for coming bottom!) and instead provide funds to all lower teams, maybe on similar system to Prem so that winners of Champ/L1/L2 get better reward and then the money gets filtered down and gives all teams an incentive to get as high as possible.
