It's a solid start to the season on the back of a horror season. 2 very tough away days out of the 3 and it's fair to say we could have done out with 6, 5 or 4 points based on the performances so we'll take middle number.
Really feels like these were the games to get through with a solid platform and looking at the fixtures we can now really build on it. 7-9 points has to be the target for the next 3 in my opinion. That will see us up around 3rd -4th and in great shape with momentum.
Really deserved 3 points today. Was interested to see if we genuinely are a step ahead in this league and i think today demonstrated we are and that we will have a good season.
100% Chambers has made a mistake. 9/10 you get away with it. Doesn't excuse it. But at the same time he hasn't had a bad game by any stretch. We need him despite what some think. The alternative is a player who isn't fit for 90 mins yet. Chambers is an important player for us this season it is as simple as that. He will also be very influential on the younger guys in that team. Of course he can't make those mistakes every week and he won't. It's really disappointing it has punished us by two points but we should have put the game to bed by then.
To crucify him for this is over the top. Lets back this team, it can take us places if we back them!!
I think everyone was a bit confused by the Ellis Harrison sale comments and that 100% of the money goes to Bristol Rovers. Even Lambert. I assume Evans has told him that and it could be true but unlikely anything to do with a sell on. I suspect we structured the Harrison payments and so it is just paying off the original deal. It could therefore be technically true but thats just the way many deals are done and i assume we'll be getting more in from Waghorn etc so it is bending reality a bit.
So With rumours of Judge and the Dozzell going there was a lot of Evans slating before the fact! There was some (albeit less and i know some were more frustrated by situation, but some none the less) slating when it looked like we would lose Crowe for pittence
Credit where it is due, Crowe is signed up and we have rejected approached for Judge and made it clear not wanted. Dozzell likewise has gone nowhere yet.
I get frustration of the relegation and mistake made but credit where due and likewise criticism when due, but only when.
More positive news day today so lets try and keep that positive vibe (Unlike Elvin King and his rubbish).
It's interesting to see how these boys are not just on the fringes and vert much part of 1st team and even 1st 11 plans potentially so far based on pre-season. There is obviously an element of needs must but i'm sure Lambert could easily have chosen to sell/release and bring in his own on frees albeit.
There were a fair few question marks When Donacian and Rowe were shipped out on loan. Starting to think this was a bit more strategic planning for L1 and maybe Lambert being pragmatic about the situation i.e. I will need them if they go down so lets have them with football in their legs rather than on our bench and not playing much. Too much credit being given maybe? Jut a thought that I think maybe the rheteric of Lambert 'doesn't fancy Donacian/Rowe' may not actually be so true. It was more a this will be better for them and us long term.
