If he was in the temperate deciduous woodland part of the garden it would be fine, if it was in the steppe grassland part of the garden it would be more than welcome, but it's not, it's tearing up the croquet lawn. What can I do about the little tunneller, without harming it?
Put things like a model Pyramid, or Taj Mahal, over any mole holes, with a little door of course.
Could be just what Croquet needs to attract millenials, I think you would be onto a winner.
Or I could leave it as a sort of croquet-whack-a-mole hybrid.
Croquet players already have mallets so are fully tooled up for the secondary aspect. And a few sharp taps on a mole cranium might just 'encourage les autres'.
Apparently robot mowers are good for this. The regular movement and vibration on a daily basis means the moles want to move on somewhere else.
Having googled quickly, it looks like you can get solar mole repellent spikes. I've no idea where you stick them nor if they work or not. You can also get what look like some form of vicious nipple clamps, although I may be muddling up my search history.
We get terrible problems with moles. I’ve tried alsorts. Sonic sonar devices, traps, bits of wood and metal driven in the ground. Apparently, according to the local pest control man the tunnels are always there and the moles might not use them for years. I got a couple with a gardening fork but I think that was pure luck.
