Come on TWTD music lovers, what one album has blown you away more than most this year.
For me it has to be Hookworms - Microshift. Absolutely incredible album and a band absolutely on top of their game. Saw them at End of the Road at the weekend too and they melted faces it was so good.

I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.
Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.
I don't know if this counts as it's only an EP but I love Hatchie's stuff Cocteau Twinsesque dreampop heaven.

As you know from my radio tracklists, I'm a big fan of Soccer Mommy, Lucy Dacus, Snail Mail, and Wooden Shjips.
Off to see Wooden Shjips on Monday as it happens.

I'm hardly buying any albums now and when I do it's mainly catching up on old stuff but I have had a great summer of live music. So, in some sort of order of preference (but it is only the first act that stands head and shoulders above all others since I saw Graham Parker and The Rumour at the Manor Ballroom in the mid 1970s):

With all due respect, that's nonsense.
Loads of amazing music released this year, so I dig into that AND old stuff too.
Exactly this. There is ALWAYS good new music if you've got the time and inclination to look for it. The arrival of children meant a good 10 years in which I mostly listened to old music or current music by old favourites, but the last few years have been great now that I have more time to go and see bands again.
Joy As An Act Of Resistance is a strong contender for album of the year for me and I'm loving that is going to chart in the top 3. I know that sales charts aren't so relevant these days, but it will gain Idles even more exposure. 25 years ago I'd have been moaning about all the new fans, now I'm pleased people are going to discover them.
Really looking forward to new albums from Desperate Journalist and Pumarosa next year.

There's a few that have had shouts so far which I would go with. Wooden Shjips, Jon Hopkins, Boy Azooga, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever.
I'll throw in...
Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Sex and Food Gorillaz - The Now Now Ross from Friends - Family Portrait Oneohtrix Point Never - Age Of Autechre - NTS Sessions The Go! Team - Semicircle
Saw Hookworms at All points East this year and they were really disappointing (Although that may have had something to do with the actual sound quality. The band themselves were looking around a bit 'wtf'?)
Edit:- Also, went to reading festival this year (The line up was pretty pants) but saw a band called The Baskervilles on the introducing stage. They're from Ipswich, just wondered if anyone had heard of/knew anything about them. They were very, very good...
These threads are a bit of a "Look at me, I'm cool" sort of thing.. But I'll join in as I'm super cool

Nice to know that the Monday afternoon singer's session at The Ship Inn, Blaxhall is cool... actually, if you are over sixty it is.
A hard listen in view of Scott Hutchison's death just a month after its release, but Dance Music by Mastersystem is a great album, 90s grungy production under tremendous lyrics.
