Expectations with transfers 19:20 - May 8 with 1243 viewsMidlandBlue25

Some people think we’re going to be spending £20m+ on individual players. I think we’ll spend a decent amount, but I think we’ll spend with the potential of relegation in the back of our mind. I’d much rather we spend £40m on 7-8 players than on 2.

That Ballard seems like it would be an excellent signing, Sunderland fans really do rate him. I’m sure McKenna has given Ashton his list already .

And the scouts will have been given a Prem mandate this calendar year presumably in case of going up. I suspect some left field stuff too.

Not sure I've seen many (any?) suggesting we'd spend over £20m on a single player. Think we'll see a few in the teens potentially but I can't see us going to or north of £20m on a single signing.

Whilst money doesn't equal success

I'd be very surprised if we only bring in players at £5 mill.

Can't see that £5-6m x 8 improves our squad that dramatically. Surely, it'd just bring in more players roughly at the level we already have?

£20m over 3 or 4 years is not that much per season. Especially considering raised income and allowable losses in the Prem, or parachute payments if relegated.

Although, I'd have taken even Frimmers in charge over Lambert or Keane.

I really wouldn't be surprised with a Forest splurge of cash.
£20m Hutchinson yes he will cost that.
2 x £15m defenders
4/5 other players at £3m each

Thats £50m plus a £10m striker = £60m to stay up.

If you want to give yourself a chance you can't shop in poundland only 2 loans allowed .Ashton has said we are going to give it a go I expect anywhere between 6 and 10 players coming in and four off them to cost 10 million plus nothing cheap in the Premiership.
