Bored of rain now 17:43 - Feb 29 with 2958 views | Dubtractor | Really bored. I think I read somewhere the other day that we've had 200% of the usual Winter rainfall this year, and Autumn will have been a similar increase. Really noticeable that all the fields around Suffolk are completely waterlogged now, so any significant rain means instant flooding of rural roads.

I knew you'd be the first to reply. I love rain, it brings life to the world, but FFS nature, a bit of moderation eh? [Post edited 29 Feb 17:55]

Bored of rain now on 17:52 - Feb 29 with 2205 views | StokieBlue | It's been relentless and as you say, incredibly annoying. It's even more annoying when you've got a hobby that involves there being no clouds. It's likely to become the norm though with climate change leading to greater precipitation at our latitude. SB

Statistics suggest huge variance in annual rainfall over the years. https://www.statista.com/statistics/610664/annual-rainfall-uk/#:~:text=The%20Uni That’s the pattern you’d expect with a maritime climate, I guess. I like the rain and I like the U.K. climate with its seasons. Hot countries for lazing holibobs and cold ones for skiing are great, but for day to day I like it here. Makes the countryside green.
Bored of rain now on 08:39 - Mar 1 with 1571 views | itfcjoe | It's such a nightmare, every time it rains now everything turns straight into a bog because we've just had no dry periods for it to clear at all. Makes a lot of things in my industry really difficult

Indeed, however climate models show more precipitation at our latitude going forward. If the modelling is correct then more and heavier rain will become the norm. SB

Correction - showery is the best weather - a few minutes of the wet stuff several times daily (pref at night), interspersed with blue skies sometimes dotted with small fluffy white clouds. 🙏

Bored of rain now on 10:47 - Mar 1 with 1296 views | _clive_baker_ | The roads in Suffolk are nuts. I think it's obviously in part due to the significantly high amounts of rainfall we've had, but I wonder if there's other factors at play. Local councils lacking the funds to dredge ditches which I know isn't happening where it has before, old drainage infrastructure expected to support growing communities, building of houses on what were previously effective flood plains (they have to go somewhere). The roads have been noticeably way more flooded this winter.
Bored of rain now on 10:48 - Mar 1 with 1283 views | OldFart71 | My biggest hate is wind (not me, the weather), but it's getting silly now with all this rain. The road between Needham and Gt. Blakenham is continually flooded. Was hoping to venture to Needham Market Car Boot this weekend, but I doubt it will go ahead.

Not so. The eastbound A14 at Newmarket was closed yesterday because of a big puddle. They have tankers trying to suck it up to take elsewhere for disposal. They've been doing that for more than a week. Probably the same today tho' I haven't checked. [Post edited 1 Mar 11:04]

Was speaking to a groundworker who has always done a lot of work for Trinity College (who seem to own half of Suffolk) - as you say no ditches being dredged, no edges being scraped, no roads being cleared when farmers using them, no works done between the roads and the farms to stop so much being dragged on etc. It's just emergency works clearing things when it is too late, opposed to an ongoing management programme to prevent issues

The wind... Atm Port of Felixstowe is not working due to high winds making container handling dangerous. I am waiting for the wind to drop so that I can load a container and take to Brogborough. I don't know when it will happen. I don't know whether I will be home tonight. I don't know whether I will get my job loaded ready for Monday morning. I am surrounded by dozens of others in the same situation and there will be many more waiting elsewhere. [Post edited 1 Mar 11:27]
