Mathie is not short. He is 1.78, (5 foot 10). = same as Broadhead.

I went to Wikipedia to check David Lowe before I posted but he is actually high ('ish) - 5' 11". And they have him down as a right winger.

Right winger is how I think of him, but slightly doubting the 5 ft 11 bit.

Connor Chaplin is the only one in that lot that is small.

I’ll drop in Eric Gates

Gerry Baker is surely, as a no 9, the all-time winner here. Gates was a midfielder who scored, most often from outside the box, where lack of height is not so consequential.

Eric played in the number10 position currently occupied by Chappers. Are neither of them strikers?

Dean McDonald

Edit: Was surprised that he's only 38, thought he played for us much earlier than he did, and it's also his birthday today.

Happy Birthday Dean.

Earl Jean
Mark Stein

We have a set of small strikers who rhyme

Tiny striker Mcdonald, Dean
Midget scorer the great Earl Jean
To call them dwarfs is rather mean
Though maybe true for little Mark Stein

There is another connection between Jean and Stein that also rhymes but only in the most ordinary sense possible.

Edit: Sorry if this spoils the scan but Earl Jean should be described as 'non-scorer', I still remember that Stoke game as the most out of position and lack of awareness of what the rest of the team were doing I have ever seen from a Town player.

Not sure a comparison via shirt numbers is valid. Town regularly played with two strikers back then, famously Mariner and Brazil, but prior to that, Mariner and Whymark.

Jaime Peters and Jason Scotland weren't exactly miniature, but they also weren't very tall!

Jason Scotland was not particularly tall.
