As well their constant niggly fouls.

Nah. He could have made it very stop start and been card happy. Always likes in control as well.

Credit to the ref on 14:51 - Dec 16 with 2574 views | Asa | Effing useless. 7 or 8 of theirs could have had yellows. Barnes for an assault on Hladky. 7 for a horrific dive holding his face. Was it Hernandez that got dragged down by Wolf and kicked him in the stomach. Absolute shower. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

He allowed the game to flow, that’s what made it a good watch.

Except when he didn't. He was toothless on time wasting as well.

Any ref that doesn't book Morsy has had a good game IMO [Post edited 16 Dec 2023 15:02]

I’m not the only one that thinks so. There was a lot of niggly 50/50 things he could have given fouls for both ways. He could have been very card happy as well and the day about him. It had some boiling points. It could have been a really stop start game. Henry Winter just tweeted about it actually. I’m a lot more frustrated in our first half finishing than the officiating. In your opinion he didn’t, in mine he did. Constant stop starting of the game, people would’ve been moaning about that, but even with the niggling fouls he played the advantage in most cases and that’s what helped the game. That first half was a great advert for the Championship.

Yes, but the keyboard warriors on here know best, let’s be fair. Even Matt Holland made reference to it but what does he know? Better to take opinions from those on here that probably have never officiated a game in their lives.

Yeah, disagree. There were times he blew instead of playing advantage when there was actually an advantage, other times he didn't when there was no advantage. Thought he was very inconsistent and gave them stuff he wasn't giving the other way. For me, it was one of the poorer refereeing performances I've seen this season at Portman Road.

It’s likely just frustration. We missed 3 guilt edge chances and didn’t clear our lines properly unfortunately. The eyes were on Suffolk today and with how much criticism VAR gets I’m sure a lot of PL fans thought this was a better alternative. I didn’t agree with all the calls he made but it was a better approach than a lot of the awful refs I’ve seen at this level.

He did let the game flow but the late challenges from Barnes that he let go on at least 3-4 occasions and that deserved a yellow card were not great. How he finished the match without a yellow card at all but Burns got one for 2-3 strong challenges, is inconsistent. Perhaps he never saw any of those challenges from Barnes but to have missed the one on Hladky and he did give a free-kick for the one where he trod on Morsy's foot after the ball had gone. If Morsy had done the same as Barnes we would all be saying he was an unbelievably lucky boy to have not got a card.

Credit to the ref on 15:11 - Dec 16 with 2271 views | Kievthegreat | Other than the yellow card for Burns which seemed a bit out of the blue, and the usual thing where Hirst gets shoved and tripped and never gets free kicks (which all refs go are liable to), he was fine. The issue is the linesmen missing the potential offsides on both goals.

Sometimes with Hirst - for a big lad - he goes down to easily and that’s probably why he doesn’t get free kicks he should at times.

I agree, I thought the one on Morsy was naughty and should’ve got a card, but I like the way he allowed the game to flow and was allowing the odd challenge. It was quite refreshing.
