Bristol roll call; Pre-match pubs; Backing the boys to energise after 18 days 12:59 - Oct 23 with 3701 viewsunstableblue

So who's heading to Bristol? myself and 2 mates heading down and very excited. Staying over to boot.

Its a great city and one of the better away grounds.

There's a bit of discontent down at Ashton Gate, with a sub-par performance against Coventry - despite winning. But we're a 'big scalp' this season, and I do think the locals are going to fire themselves up for the return of Mark Ashton.

Big concern is the 18 day gap between competitive games for Town - that's long - and we need to get the energy and momentum back in to the season. The large away following need to FIRE UP from the start, and not fall into the passive away mode - waiting for the team to inspire. Let's raise the roof.. get some Barnsle away type fervour and passion. COYF blue boys.

As for pre-match boozers - The Junction y waterfront is good. Spotted Cow, El Rincon, Bristol Beer Factory also good and not too home support on walk from centre - where are you thinking of pre-match refreshments?

Met Office currently saying 50% change of late rain at 19:00; 70% heaveir rain at 22:00.

I think a whole bunch from the South West Group will be there including 4 of us from the Glos / Worcs / Hereford Golden Triangle

We will be in the Away fanzone pre match

Sadly not. It's my favourite away day. Early train over, brunch in the docks somewhere followed by a couple of decent pubs. But then the soddin fixtures computer puts it midweek when my Mrs is away, so I'll be stuck with TownTV (and then only from half time onwards).

I hope everyone who goes has a good trip. And bring home the 3 points please.

I don't know anything about the fanzone..... at a guess it will be a long queue for over-priced, cold undrinkable beer and a portion of chips made from damp cardboard, also overpriced.

But I live in hope that my preconceptions will be delightfully shattered

Yes, car full of 5.

Staying over in WSM, as it’s half term, training in and out of Bristol so really hoping the rain isn’t that bad!!

Any advice form the many S/W supporters on family friendly pubs that serve food and would let away fans in between Parson St station and the ground greatly appreciated.

My grandparents retired to Weston Super Mare. Lovely old walks along the sandy beaches. Donkey ride. Ooh, the tide’s gone out a long way. Marvelous, isn’t it?

Parking

If you are driving there are no realistic free parking options as residents parking zones are everywhere. You can, however, park for free at Portway Park and Ride and get a bus to the stadium. Alternatively, you could park at the Long Ashton Park and Ride which is about a 20 minute walk away from the ground.

By the way… be aware of the Bristol version of the ULEZ… not sure if it was there the last time we played there!? Didn’t realise they had one until I looked at a Premier Inn in the City centre and it had a note on there about it.

Regarding car parking, done some research (starting with Gatwick obvs) and the best option with availability is the Sainsbury’s Winterstoke Road car park which is a 10 minute walk to the ground. Still spaces available and cost £6 you can book via parking space: https://www.yourparkingspace.co.uk/search

In case you’re not aware there is no street parking around stadium and the cricket ground which is other option is £15.

I work on the edge of Bristol (Filton) so about a 25 minute drive to the match for me.

Hoping to catch up with some of the SW group pre match, but also meeting up with a couple of City supporting work colleagues for a beer near the ground.

A must win game (for bragging rights at work) and so that we can watch Mark Ashton's lap of honour at the end.

Over from Australia and will be our 1st game in over 8 years Very excited! Also squeezing in Plymouth and Fulham next week.

Staying with the in-laws in Somerset so an easy drive into Bristol but be good to know where everyone is heading to meet up. The brother in law says most of the local pubs to the ground are home only.
