So many of you losing your minds at Sky... 10:09 - Jun 22 with 2803 viewsoncebluealwaysblue

It's been the same for years, not sure why it's causing such annoyance.

I'm sure there will be no complaints when you can watch games you wouldn't previously have been able to.

It's always caused annoyance - 3 pm Saturdays are better for most people who travel to away matches.

Plus it's been possible to watch all games under the iFollow streaming arrangements (except for those on Sky) and they don't move the fixtures for those. Which is surely better for those making the away trips?

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

3pm Saturdays may well be better for those travelling, but no one is putting a gun to a head and forcing a fan to travel.

It's modern football and it's sh1t, I just don't understand why people are so surprised.

You are allowed to attend an event but still be annoyed at its timing.

"It's modern football and it's sh1t" - it seems you share that annoyance.

No-one is saying they're being forced to, some fans invest a lot of time and money supporting their team (to be honest, I am not one of them). Playing at stupid times makes things very difficult for fans wanting to follow their team and could result in a much lower away following that day. It is only right people have their say.

Not particularly, I, like you, don't invest a lot of time and money, purely as I don't live in the UK to be able to go often.

When the game is on Sky, if people are that inconvenienced by the timing, they can choose to just watch from home, hence I don't get why people grumble. Doesn't make them an instant armchair fan for missing one or two games a season.

For some people though, it's their way to socialise and spend leisure time away from work. Why shouldn't they complain when they are being inconvenienced for the sake of a TV company's greed?

It's not "a TV company's greed". In all major professional sport these days, the times and dates when it is played is dictated by what might suit a TV audience, rather than the fans who wish to go to the game. This is because TV provides the lion's share of income to most sport. Annoying for the hard core fans, but most of them still turn up.
If blame is to be apportioned as regards greed, yo should direct your ire at the game's administrators, not the TV companies.

Personally I don’t get the issue. It’s 2 hrs later in the day, and a Sunday.
Home for midnightish (if in Ipswich)

Not sure the tears over it.

No ire here, been watching games on IFollow so this doesn't affect me. It has little to do with what suits a TV audience, matches are spread out over the week Friday evenings, Saturday evenings, Sunday lunch time, tea time and evening, Monday evening, etc, etc in order to gain maximum exposure, maximum sponsorship, maximum revenue. I said greed, a businessman would say maximising revenue streams. Whatever, it's not for the benefit of the travelling supporter.

Besides my original point with the OP was that people were losing their minds; I'm not seeing this on here (not a Twitter user) some people disgruntled, others see benefits of quieter travel. But if fans are unhappy why shouldn't they voice their displeasure as the match isn't being moved for their benefit.

We're talking a handful of games a season on sky, not every other week.

You could argue they can go to the pub to watch it if they're that bothered about missing the social aspect.

However, the people who run the Football League are the "greedy" ones, or else they would cut a more restrictive deal with Sky for less money.

The league's job is to maximise revenue for the clubs so they can spend more on player's wages. Ultimately scheduling of tv games is for the financial benefit of the players.

I don't like Sky but you could argue that the flip side is that thousands more fans who don't go to away games will get the chance to watch the game whereas if it was 3pm on a Saturday it wouldn't be televised (although it would be in iFollow for the couple of thousand that would watch it there)...

I actually like the first game being away at Sunderland, much rather that than a night game wedged between two Saturdays in the winter.

It is what it is at the end of the day, I don’t mind our games being on TV, but the 5pm KO time is a bit rancid, the 14:30KO time would’ve been better suited for us.

But that wasn't on sky. It is the nature of football, every game isn't played at 3pm on a Saturday.

Cry about wanting to get back up and once back up, cry because it is different. Typical town fans.
