Recently I've been irritating my (non-Suffolk) partner by using the phrase "on the huh" at every appropriate opportunity. Really annoys her. Any other Suffolk phrases used that irritate their partners?

‘I’m on the drag’ is a favourite of mine, especially in public places.

Not irritating but actually quite delightful - a large number of overseas staff at [redacted] hospital have adopted the phrase 'on the huh' as part of their conversation with English speakers.

Hearing it said in a Portuguese, Indian or Polish accent is good but, for me, nothing tops it being said in a sing-song Filipino accent.

My mum used to say 'ought' (rhymes with 'port') meaning none or nothing.

If i missed the start of the football and came in part-way through... "What's the score, Mum?"

"Oh... still ought ought"

I don't think it is Suffolk per se, but "kind words butter no parsnips".

As someone who’s managed to integrate ‘Uppa Towen’ and ‘Buh’ into my Essex and previously High Wycombe friend groups, I’m intrigued as to what ‘on the huh’ means.

I used to work with a fella who would say "I dussent do that" instead of "I daren't do that".
No really heard it since.
Maybe it was just him!

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Sounds like an Americanism to me. Don't they tend to use 'oughts' for the decade where Brits would say noughties?

Until I used that to my partner at the time a few years ago, who wasn't from these here parts, I had no idea it wasn't in common usage and was a Suffolkism.

Can’t remember specifics but it’s a nautical term.

Something like in high winds or currents they drop something in the water called a drag, it’s slows the boat right down and make the journey last longer but keeps them on course…...hence the expression, sorry I’m late, was on the drag.

My eldest has been with his partner for ages and she now uses 'on the drag' as default

She is of Punjabi decent and gets the phish taken out of her every time she uses it in conversation with her wider family. It's marvellous.

Where is your partner from? I bet they have some real corkers of phrases to use back on you if they were petty enough and don't intend for you to simply become "ex" very soon! When I first got called "me duck" was quite a shock to me. I am sure "my lover" has been to some as well.

The random use of the word “together” pronounced “tagither” as in WATCHOO DOIN TAGITHER” is very Suffolk.
