Should be sacked for breaking the terms of his contract. Has shown arrogance beyond belief in using his privileged position to take advantage of his popularity to make himself look above the rules governing other broadcasters.

Funny how 36 Tory MPs wrote a letter about how he should be sacked and withing a few hours Sunak was saying this isn't a matter for Govt/

Clearly knew they didn't have the support they thought they did and trying to row back from it......similar to Marcus Rashford, don't take on a national treasure.

What contractual terms are these that you seem to know are in his contract? Also which are the Rules governing other broadcasters that he has broken?

Do those broadcasters include Neill, Brady and Sugar , or are they ok because they are on the "right" side?

Yep, anyone off the street can see what was attempted here and it blew up in their face because they failed to realise there's more to 'public opinion' than readers of the Mail and the Telegraph.

Have you seen his contract? What does it say? Is the real issue here that you disagree with what he said rather than that he said it? I'm going to wager that's what this is about.

Why is it that we have a government that suits entitled man-babies like you down to the ground?

What happened to the UK to drift so right and so ignorant? Brexit as a wedge issue certainly but that in itself was over a decade in the making.

Perhaps James Harding, former director of BBC news and a Tory, put it best.

He said "you can’t get to a world in which the BBC is policing the opinions of every writer, director, musician, sports personality, scientist, business entrepreneur”.

There were “freedom of speech principles here”.

“Those people have lives beyond the BBC and should be able to give voice to what they say.”

Perhaps Groucho Marx summed this attitude up well, although with the polarity of things these days maybe such criticism can also be levelled at the left, and what is lacking generally are positive visions for the future. Certainly, neither side on the Brexit debate really went for the positives.

The Ramones also did a song with the same title (presumably influenced by Groucho) but its angry tone is perhaps more apt for current times.

Did you see the list? It was mostly the culture war freaks, 2019 intake and UKippers that have been emboldened by Brexit. Gullis, Swaine, Hunt, Anderson, etc. Mostly part of the 'Common Sense Group' - a lovely bit of wishful thinking on their part lol
