Restaurant recommendations Ipswich 11:25 - Jan 11 with 2379 views | Sarge | I intend to spend my birthday this year watching us beat Forest Green 20-0 and follow it up with a nice dinner somewhere. Any highly regarded restaurants in Ipswich or the surrounds? I’ve been to Kwan Thai before and enjoyed that and Three Wise Monkeys which I no longer enjoy but otherwise am not particularly clued in to the Ipswich restaurant scene. Agree with you that KT is very good

Restaurant recommendations Ipswich on 11:40 - Jan 11 with 2291 views | geg1992 | My favourite restaurants in Ipswich: Takayama - Japanese/Korean Kwan Thai Rios - All you can eat meat / Brazilian Trongs - Chinese I really don't rate Maloko - we went a few times but was disappointed. The price you pay for the food you get isn't great but if you like Tapas then it could be a good shout. People seem to rate the new restaurant - The Botanist but I haven't been my self yet.

Seconded. Been many times and never let me down. As mentioned already, Zaika is a very good Indian restaurant too.

Bistro on the Quay is ok but has an excellent wine bar upstairs now which is good fun and a nice way to spend some time pre / post bookings.

Restaurant recommendations Ipswich on 12:57 - Jan 11 with 2019 views | MedwayTractor | Ararat on Norwich Road if you like Turkish, although I haven't been since Covid, but don't try your holiday Turkish on the head waitress/owner, she's Portuguese!

Loses points for inconsistent use of decimal points and bold/regular type for the pricing on the menu.
Restaurant recommendations Ipswich on 13:24 - Jan 11 with 1881 views | Funge | Venue 16 is in the old Greshams venue, up Tuddenham Rd. Ridiculous venue, but one of the best steaks I've had outside London. Service very very good too.
Restaurant recommendations Ipswich on 13:27 - Jan 11 with 1837 views | HealysBackPocket | Echo the shouts for Takayama and Trongs Ottoman on Woodbridge Road is the best meal I’ve had in Ipswich for some time and would highly recommend if Turkish is your sort of thing Maharani is my go to for an Indian and is on Norwich Road so easily walkable from the ground
Restaurant recommendations Ipswich on 15:19 - Jan 11 with 1660 views | monkeymagic | I’d recommend Mariners, which would be particularly fitting if you were coming over tomorrow but good all year round.

The Zaynab is a truly excellent indian restaurant. The Capadoccia is a good Turkish. Both of them are former 'Little Chefs', oh how the travellers palate has changed.

Indeed!! A mate of mine and I stopped in one of those two one day and each for an Olympic breakfast. The waitress queried that there were 2 of us and they were meant as a 'sharing plate' she was somewhat surprised to get two empty plates back afterwards, and then we order pancakes. it would have been rude not too

Olympic breakfasts were never sharing platters were they ? I think I always went for the Early Starter for breakfasts so probably never noticed, though there burgers were great too. anyway wasnt it technically a Happy Eater & a Little Chef at Capel ? Often used to have breakfast in Little Chefs on the way to fishing competitions. Olympic was always my choice!
