Just one of those games, still in our hands
at 08:51 11 Apr 2024

We were the better team but the ball just wouldn't go in the net. The final ball and/or the final shot just wasn't there tonight. Any other game and we walk away with a comfortable win. It happens sometimes and we're still 2nd in the league with promotion in our hands. We've played a lot worse and still managed to get a result. Good performance after the defeat at the weekend.

With the 2 week recovery after the Boro game and Burns & Hirst potentially coming back, let's keep the faith! Who ever thought we'd be in this position at the start of the season!

I like the look of Taylor, gave us a lot more energy in the middle I thought.

How are we feeling about the nodge game?
at 08:49 2 Apr 2024

I must admit, until we got it back to 2-2 yesterday, I was really dreading it. With Moore potentially missing out too, even more so. However, the attitude our players showed yesterday has filled me with more confidence. I just hope we can show the same desire that we did in the second half yesterday.

With a full squad, I'm confident we'd beat them. Still not over yesterday, my ears are ringing so badly but its so worth it!

Is the standard of driving getting worse?
at 08:48 13 Feb 2024

Just saw a very near accident on the A14 where the Shell garage slip road joins. A white Hyundai joined without even considering a lorry in lane 1, which had to swerve aggressively, almost tipping over and coming within inches of hitting another car. Fair play to the lorry driver!!

Seem to be seeing these sorts of incidents more and more often recently. People don't seem to understand that a slip road gives you no priority to the joining traffic, it's a give way!

Rumours of Tories bringing in 1% deposit mortgages
at 18:27 21 Jan 2024

Just when I thought I couldn't despise this Government any more.

Clearly only to try to entice the younger voters as they're desperate.

Literally just opened a lifetime ISA, so by the time I'm able to withdraw, no doubt the house prices will have increased drastically if this came in.

Although it looks good as allows more people to get onto the housing ladder, surely it only results in houses becoming more expensive any pricing out those who it's supposed to be targeting?

Or am I completely missing something? I know it's probably not as simple as that.

Tinnitus
at 12:47 9 Jan 2024

Hi everyone,

I've had tinnitus for almost 10 years now and it hasn't caused me much distress except from the 1st year where I really struggled.

I've been to football home and away, clubbing (with ear plugs), travelling etc and never had an issue.

Since the last home game it has increased and is really bothering me again. It's affecting my sleep and sometimes my concentration as I can hear it 24/7.

I'm really considering skipping the next home game to give my ears a rest, but as stupid as it sounds, football has really helped me through a difficult year as my wife became extremely ill and spent over 5 weeks in hospital and is still recovering (but certainly very close to her normal self, thankfully!)

I wonder, for those who do suffer, do you wear ear plugs to the matches? Or take any other precautions? I'm wondering if it was actually the tannoy system. I remember it being very loud and because of the medical emergency, was on much longer than usual.

Thanks for any advice!

EDIT - also interested to hear from people that have had it long term to see how you've coped / how it's progressed in time.

Playing so open against a team with so much pace and technical ability was always going to be a struggle away from home.

Minimum wage increasing by 9.8%
at 08:45 22 Nov 2023

Interested to hear peoples thoughts on this. I'm surprised how high it is, I assume as the election looms.

On one hand I'm happy that those struggling will have more in their pocket.

On the other hand, surely this will put pressure on services inflation again? I must admit that I don't know a huge about economics and I'm just learning so happy to be corrected and hear other peoples thoughts.

Also, I have seen many posts arguing that this makes the average earner worse off, as minimum wage has increased twice by close to 10% in the past 2 years yet many average earners wages have increased below this, some not at all.

On LinkedIn, I have seen many people also argue that this puts more pressure on businesses at a time where many are struggling.

Hopefully this doesn't turn into a 10 page argument.

Our crazy away support this season
at 10:22 13 Nov 2023

We have averaged 2532 fans per away game this season.
2nd highest in the league
Have to travel 18% further than the average team
Minimum following has been 1970 which is the highest in the league.

And this is even with selling out almost every game so far so could be much higher.

Just to compare, Norwich have averaged 1539 and have taken as low as 340 fans.

Of course, still a long way to go but long may this continue. Great support!

RSI
at 08:56 9 Nov 2023

Hi all,

I'm interested to know if anyone has suffered with RSI and if anyone has advice / success stories surrounding it.

I work in an office so I'm on the computer for 8 hours a day minimum. Until this week, I would then also play PlayStation for 2 hours each night, which I have now put on hold.

I stopped because when playing PlayStation my hand would start to go numb and there was also a bit of pain. When I shook my hand it would go so I assumed something circulation related. I had this issue a few years ago and it just went away so I hoped the same would happen, but not this time.

However also over the last few weeks I've noticed pain when bending my wrist, notably near the thumb area, but a few days ago I started to get a bit of pain all over the wrist and notably the ball part at the side of the wrist, not sure what the name of it is.

Previously I've found Reddit to be a helpful source of information, such as when my wife was in hospital at the start of the year, it gave me so much useful information about what to expect and how to best help her. However, this time after reading it, It's made me absolutely terrified, as so many people on there have had RSI that has left them disabled and unable to complete basic tasks, let alone work.
This has been a real wake up call for me. I'm overweight, my posture has been bad over the years etc. I really want to sort my self out and I am doing stretches every lunch time now.

Weirdly, when typing at work, I rarely experience that much pain, it's things like putting pressure on my wrist to get out of the bath creates pain and any motion that causes my wrist to bend too far.

So far, i've:

Got a proper chair with good head and lumber support.
Raised the height and put arm rests higher to try and avoid my wrist resting on the desk as I assumed that it would compress nerves.
Wear a splint at night as I found my wrist would often bend, cause pain and wake me up.
Started doing stretches every few hours and following YouTube videos at night with more.

I partly wonder if it's neck related, my neck always clicks when I turn to the left which doesn't sound great, but MRI has been fine.

The issue is now that I'm worried about it, I think it's made the issue worse. So hoping for some reassurance. Sorry I know it's not the usual thing to post on a football forum but there's a lot of wise minds on here!
