At Keno's behest... on 12:21 - Nov 17 by usm | Are you a Northerner? You cant microwave jacket potatoes and expect them to be edible, they need a good 90-120 minutes in the oven at 180 Celsius - maybe more if you dont have a fan oven |
Nope, I always put mine in the microwave for a good ten minutes before.

It all depends on time. If you have the time then sure, oven cook all the way. If you need a quick lunch or dinner then microwaving then oven cooking works just fine. Didn't you just say beans were unacceptable? I think that tells us everything. SB

Waitrose Mixed Beans in a Spicy Tomato sauce, add some chilli flakes. A nice strong extra, extra mature, cave-aged cheddar. And some Branston pickle on top.

At Keno's behest... on 12:58 - Nov 17 with 828 views | Herbivore | I'm going to be controversial here, I can take or leave a jacket potato. It's above plain boiled spuds in the hierarchy of potato cookery but that's it for me. If I do have one then veg chilli or baked beans are my filling of choice, but it's not so something I often choose to have.

At Keno's behest... on 13:04 - Nov 17 with 824 views | Mullet | I can’t believe some of the oddballs on here, Although those of you who like bacon bits etc. Check out Grostl, it’s Austrian, but good. Beans and cheese for lunch. Chilli con carne if you’re being posh. Sour cream, pickled jalapeños, smoked cheese that’s how it’s done.

Two highly esteemed posters downvoted by Mullers, who clearly has potato-related issues. 'Potatoes'; or 'luxury food' as they're called in Halesworth.

At Keno's behest... on 11:42 - Nov 17 by J2BLUE | A jacket potato should be cut into 4 wedges and topped with cheese before going back in the oven to melt. You can keep the beans. |
Bloody hell I almost agree with you. On a cooking thing. I feel ill. Two jacket potatoes into four halves.. grated cheese. Back in the oven for it to melt into the potatoes. At that point, I’d personally add beans.

I vaguely remember you're down Surrey way. Are you anywhere near Winkworth Arboretum? Mrs Factual saw that on Gardener's World, and apparently we'll be going sometime in the spring. If we're all spared, obviously.

This is actually quite amusing that you're dismissing his cooking... for such a food inventor as yourself...

I can cope with that although I should go with bacon not tuna

At Keno's behest... on 14:55 - Nov 17 with 690 views | Tangledupin_Blue | Best jacket potato filling is butter, cheese, tomato and bacon then swamp in gravy. Potato must have thick, almost leathery, skin. Not microwaved but proper oven.
