Back up Goal keeper 09:27 - Jul 28 with 3623 views | gazzer1999 | How about Nathan Trott from West Ham? spent last year on loan at AFC Wimbledon. I thought he looked a good prospect when he played against us at Portman Road, I am sure the Hammers would allow him out on loan again.

I think we need to go for an older head, someone to mentor Holy a bit and still be a capable deputy if called upon. Not sure who, but a keeper in the Autumn of their career.

Back up Goal keeper on 13:05 - Jul 28 with 3053 views | Hipsterectomy | Is Harry Wright still not good enough even for a League 1 backup/the odd lowly cup game? Feels like he's been here for years yet never mentioned. He's almost 22 as well... I saw that Nick Hayes who left us to go to Norwich was released by them [Post edited 28 Jul 2020 13:06]

He is an odd one! Not sure what we're expecting to happen with him?

The fact he is still here as a goalkeeper at near 22 suggests we value him, yet he seems to have never got anywhere near playing for us.

The club must rate him or they wouldn't give him a new contract, but I would question that coming up to 22 in November and still to make a senior appearance, what is the thinking here? If he is good enough, he should be pushing for the first team and making himself our No.2. Gianluigi Donnarumma, AC Milan's young keeper, is a similar age to Wright and he's just made his 200th first team appearance at a club of that size and stature. If Wright is good enough then get him involved, if he isn't then it's probably time to move on and try your luck somewhere else.

He's a bit bigger than that, although not the tallest by any means. He was injured for most of last season so his progress stalled a bit. Big year for him this year, ideally I think he should go out on loan.

But where? He will end up on loan at Chelmsford or BSE. Is that really ideal for a 22 year old GK?

David Stockdale? I'm not convinced a loan player is the best option - agree an older keeper who doesn't mind being back up

He made numerous mistakes last season, struggles with any shot that goes lower than his knees. He is not very good, hence why he has never played above league one

They'll be looking at National League at worst I would expect. Needs first team football which realistically he's not going to get too much of here.

Hardly old for a keeper though. Basically like a 17/18 year old outfield player still trying to break in, which isn't uncommon.

True, but by then keepers have already had a taste of first team action, if not a regular. Wright seems no closer to the first team than he was 3 or 4 seasons ago.

I think you're thinking along the right lines in terms of profile, but the idea that Richard Wright would give up a coaching role at Manchester City to come sit on the Ipswich bench is a bit of a lol.
