Stonewall Penalties vs Soft Penalties 09:13 - Jan 15 with 2047 viewsGeoffSentence

We have been awarded exactly as many penalties as we have conceded this season so far. But, and I acknowledge that this may simply be normal fan bias, I have this feeling that we have suffered a bit with stonewall penalties not being given for us (Wycombe definitely, last night I hear), whereas some of the penalties given against us have been soft or plain wrong (Wycombe again).

Am I right or just looking at it through blue tinted glasses?

It was actually a quote from another Confederate general, who shouted to his retreating troops "There stands Jackson like a stone wall - rally behind the Virginians!".

And thereafter Jackson's brigade was The Stonewall Brigade. Until he was shot by confederate troops.

You're definitely looking through blue tinted glasses.

Penalties are given by refs applying their interpretation of the laws of the game in a split second in a contest between two sets of cheats. The relevant law will almost certainly start 'In the referee's opinion...'

In the real world there are no soft, medium or hard-boiled penalties - they are either penalties or not penalties.

Norwood's last night was a good case in point. he was touched, perfectly allowable according to the laws of the game - and then flung himself to the ground, ie cheated, possibly outside the area where an offence may or may not have occurred. The ref chose to play on... and quite right to...given the minimal contact in very slippery conditions.

The only difference in third division football is that the cheats probably don't practice as much as they do in the Prem... and the refs are 3rd rate as well as the players - by and large.

???? minimal touch? The defender pretty much had his shirt and arm around his shoulder to his neck level from behind after tugging him back numerous times in the build up.

iT WAS almost as blatant as when David Johson was suplexed by the Bolton defender during the playoffs. Even the ref after the game admitted he made a mistake.

Wow, a huge exaggeration. You been to Specsavers recently Badadski? If not, think you need to get those eyes tested. If the ref thought it was a penalty then you can take him with you when you go.

But surely it was a stonewall penalty in a must win game. That could have been the moment that quite literally defines our season.

And it was definitely a game of two halves
