I have taken my lino up in my bathroom as getting a new one I think it was on ply board which I took up aswell so I’m back to the floorboards, which sort of ply do I need to put down now ready for when the Lino goes on? Don’t want it to thick as skirting already there. Thanks

You know a carpenter and a carpet fitter are different things, right? Or am I getting a whoosh? Difficult to tell in here lately.

3mm ply

I use 5mm at least and screw down into joists - any less thickness with nails or staples and your floor will be squeaking within 18 months..

Just one small problem; sell their houses to who, Ben? Fcking Aquaman?

Tsk, are there any carpenters on here?

I would go with the 3mm plywood and lightly glue it down so that you minimise the damage to the floorboards should you want to go with sanding them in future.

You are going to ask about glue next, aren't you?

What if he actually needs a joiner, not a carpenter?

I'm no carpet fitter, but have seen plenty of vinyl being laid, 3mm ply, normally nailed down (they use a nail gun). Then they skim the joints with a levelling compond, then the vinyl is glued to the ply.

Tho, for the DIYer, be careful what you're screwing into and how long the screws are. Particularly thinking of pipes (seen that done so many times, including with underfloor heating).

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
