closed the road for 4 hours last night!
Maybe there's something I don;t know, but why four hours? I understand that one guy had to be cut out of one of the cars - but get him out, mark the road and get the cars out of the way! I just don't get this thing we seem to have these days that roads are closed for hours and hours with huge inconvenience for so many people.

Police forensics / crash investigation thingymabobs I'd imagine. Presumably there's scans, measurements, checks on condition of the road, etc. all to be done before and after the vehicles have been removed. |  |

Why does it "have to be treated like a crime scene" if there is no suspicion that a crime has taken place? Has anyone analysed how many of these "crime scenes" actually result in prosecutions or convictions? |  |

On a similar note does anyone know what was going on on Norwich Road last night. Around 9:40pm, around Highfield Approach turnoff - was coming in and whole Road was blocked by about 5 police cars, and police seemingly arresting or tending to something on the side of the road? |  |

Any collision where there is a fatality or potential fatality has to be investigated. Any where there isn't and the police are unlikely to turn up!
You cannot decide, ah this one is due to a criminal act we will treat it as one and ah, I have decided without any evidence that it was entirely no crime committed and needs no investigation.
It might well be inconvenient for people that a road is closed without notice for a considerable amount of time. It is probably rather more inconvenient to a family that a member of it will not come home again the same person they were when they left. |  |

Life threatening injuries or not, it took just ONE hour to cut them out. How long does it take to take some photo's and measurements on the road. Can they not do the rest of the 'investigating' after the road has reopened? Get it done and get the road opened again!
This isn't a moan about this particular incident but at the trend to keep roads shut for way longer than is often necessary. It seems odd to me that a few years ago this didn't happen; but now, with much busier roads it takes so much longer to reopen a road. | |

The article states "he suffered injuries which are not believed to be serious". However, at the time, they may have been considered very serious or even life-threatening. Or maybe the police have evidence that another crime was committed and wish to gather evidence for a dangerous driving prosecution? Perhaps the accident collision investigation team that cover Suffolk were busy in another part of the county or had just finished in north Suffolk and had to get there? Perhaps there is some other issue we are unaware of.
It is always frustrating when a road gets closed (especially without notice). However, I don't think it is likely to be without good cause. | |
